Team name...Post it all here

I would definitely prefer Redwolves! Commies is just another leftover stain foisted upon us by Lord Farquaad, just like the sewage pouring out from a busted FedEx pipe.

Regardless of how we feel if Washington wins a Super Bowl as Commanders the name is going to stay.
 
THe only thing that sucks about them winning already is the fact that winning and having JD5 is attracting new fans . . . Commanders fans, not Redskins fans. If they keep winning changing the name will become a thing of the past unfortunately.

Agreed! They will still always be the Redskins to me! My older son (14) calls them the Redskins, my younger son (11) calls them the Commanders. And i coach their NFL Flag teams, so they have lots of Commanders "uniforms", lol. It does make me use the name Commanders a lot, so unfortunately it causes it to come out sometimes when i don't want it to and i have to have Commanders shirts to wear while coaching.
 
I’ve given in to the name. If they change it again it won’t bother me. It’s still the burgundy and gold team representing the region I live in.

The uniforms on the other hand, I have qualms.

I'm pretty certain within the next 3 years we will have a new name. I'm pretty certain that JH and his wife hate Commanders so much. Sadly we'll never get the beloved Redskins back... I see there is a 10% chance they can work in a native american name like Warriors or something and revive the logo. I think they can make that case because of existing other NA teams that likely will never change... but that's a uphill battle so I give it a 10% chance off success... but I would love to have the logo back and call it Warriors or whatever works... but I would still say Redskins.

I think greater chance of Redwolves, Wolves or Hogs than most other options...

But I think Commanders is living on borrowed or stolen time. There's way too much $$$ to be made with a better brand that will outsell.
 
I figure you go to Redwolves and go back to a version of the 80/90 uniform and just change the logo from a face to a wolf and the feather to a tail.

We'll probably get a stadium deal now the the election is over and most likely RFK sight, so you could announce the wolves den.

This offseason you can do the rebrand, while doing all those renovations to the stadium.

And next year we should be running through the NFL better than we are this season.

At this point I would be totally ok with this if it allows all but the most stubborn fans the ability to move on.
 
Meh. Just me, but the name change honestly hasn't been on my radar. Fine with the name at this point. It is kind if generic. But so are most nicknames for teams. Even locally, Nationals and Capitals aren't exciting. Wizards IS a goofy name, lol. If they one day switch it to Warriors or Wolves or something, fine I guess. Logo will prob still be a W.

Just glad the team is good! 💪🏾
 
I called them The Ders until this season. Still hate the name though. I’m hoping they’re working with a Native American tribe to come up with a new name that will help honor our history. I read a random post on Reddit that said they were but I have no idea how the guy got that info or if he was just making stuff up. It would be really nice if it worked out this way but it most likely won’t and I understand why,

They really need to change those ugly uniforms though. Especially the white ones and the black ones.

I’m ok with Redwolves. I think it would be cool if we had our throwback uniforms with the scripted R on the side.

The Name Nuts on X that would rather lose as "Redskins" than win as "Commanders" make my eye twitch.

For those still struggling with the name, just remember: Grant and Danny constantly whine about the name--and one is always better off disagreeing with those two assclowns.
 
I think you’re talking about an extreme minority. Vast majority of fans who dislike ‘Commanders’ are all-in on the football team, they just want a different name. It’s not that hard to do both :)

I think the folks that want fans to shut up and just accept the name mainly just don’t want to go through the anxiety of another period of uncertainty and that’s somewhat understandable. But I do think *most* fans want it changed and for that reason the Harris Group should seriously consider it. It might involve pain, but it’s one time pain and whatever they selected would in all likelihood be the permanent name.
 
You're right--that name fiasco was so mind numbing. The other issue I have is, no matter the name, people are STILL going to bitch about it because they didn't choose their name. So it's really pointless in my mind. Commanders has become "fine" to me.

And yes, the Name Nuts are an extremely vocal, extreme minority, who need to be hit in the face with a shovel.
 
Ultimately, Josh Harris will decide so to a certain extent it doesn’t matter what we say.
 
I’m not a Name Nut. I’m just a fan who has no appetite for having an uninspired and lazy moniker jammed down my throat. My fandom for the Washington football franchise remains as it always will but I will never purchase any fan gear other than that is W branded while it exists. The same as I will never verbalize or even type the C name.
