Random Commanders Thoughts

Ticket prices for the Saints game in December are getting cheaper by the week. 🤣😎💵

That game last night was painful to watch. The Saints had 9 starters out of the game including the starting quarterback and BOTH starting receivers.

I thought Al Michaels was a bit of a jerk for scoffing at the Saints and Spencer Rattler. NO TEAM including the Chiefs pulls the starting quarterback and both starting receivers as well as two starting OL and comes out of it with an offense that scores consistently.

Rattler was on the inactive list for the first 4-5 weeks of the season and is a fifth round rookie and Michaels seemed impatient that a middle round rookie wasn't lighting it up against a pretty good defense.

On the flip side, Sam Howell did light it up for a few games under almost those exact same circumstances.

Not quite. Sam had been on the team in 2022 and had a year in the NFL before he was named the opening day starter for 2023. He had the one game of experience ending the 2022 season in a win against Dallas.

Rattler wasn't necessarily expected to play as Haener was listed as the #2 over the summer and into the first 4 games of the season. Dennis Allen chose to start Rattler in somewhat of a surprise move given how little work he had received in the offense.

Well, just to be difficult, one could argue that Sam Howell lit it up as a midround rookie on the 16th game of his rookie year against the Cowboys. That game was sufficient to declare in Rivera's mind Howell to be the presumptive starter.

I think the Carolina game will actually tell us a lot. In years past, this is the game we come out so overconfident that we play flat and lose. It wouldn't be hard to look past this game and focus on the Bears. Chicago was flexed to a national game and is Caleb vs. Daniels. If this team has turned the page, then they will come out strong and win this week.

Totally agree. I'm pretty confident given our results so far this year, but its still held in check by what's happened at times like this in the past. It's a different group in all respects so we should have some optimism.

Yeah, I don’t know how many tests this new regime has to pass to quell all of our anxieties but so far they have answered every call. Hope to see them pass the latest ‘you have to beat an inferior team at home’ test as well. There are no guarantees on the NFL but I am planting my confidence flag in the ground for this one.

I h have a hard time wrapping my brain around the excellence of the new ownership group. They have hit home run after home run after home run.

The player’s survey results after this season should be top 5 in the league. I personally couldn’t ask for more from them at this point.

I think this Norvousness will peek its head around this season and into the beginning of 2025. After all, we remember several seasons that ended positively where we wondered if this team was ready to launch, but no momentum was carried forward. There are just so many ghosts to exorcise.

Just to be clear brother, we are ALL having trouble trusting what our eyes are seeing. It’s not just you it’s the entire fanbase. And justifiably so.

It's a strange thing.

What I type is what I know I should be feeling yet I actually feel at ease. I am confident that these guys won't trip on their own shoelaces and then shoot themselves in the foot as so many past teams have.

Still, I feel like I need to find some wood to knock on for daring to put that in print. lol

I'm not going to lie, and I'm not proud of it, but I did just scream '**** Ron Rivera!' as I watched Brian Branch make yet another impact play in his 2nd season. Meanwhile, Ron's pick is all but off the roster and as often as not a healthy scratch.

You're a damn genius Rivera. Seriously - you should take the Jeopardy test.

Chris Olave and Christian Gonzalez would certainly look better in Washington uniforms than Ron's picks of Jahan Dotson and Forbes.

Jesus. Rivera should’ve been locked out of the draft day room. Guy is clueless.

He is top 10 NFL’s most overrated head coaches.
