Coaching staff thread

Btw, if you haven't sat down and watched Untold: Johnny Manziel on Netflix, it's a must watch given Johnny's OC (or QB coach? Or something) was Kliff Kingsbury. And he is interviewed extensively during the series. It's a fascinating watch no matter what, but now that Kliffy is in the house, it is even more relevant and interesting.

My preference would have been to keep Allen, pay Montez Sweat and to have traded Daron Payne before he played out his contract.

I would have done what the team did with Chase Young. He missed so much time with injury there was really no way to trade him before he showed he could go out there and string some starts together.

I guess that is considered a parallel move and they can do that. Very interesting though.

Yeah, position coach to position coach would be lateral.

That said, I think it's generally a bad idea to try and block people from at least exploring other options because you don't want people forced to stay.

As Mike Tomlin said, "we don't have prisoners, we have volunteers."

Now, if they block the move and then give the guy a bump in some way, that makes sense.

it is in their best interest to block a quality coach from going to another divisional opponent. Or, even if he isn’t that high quality, to just make things more difficult for us.

It would have been in their best interest to block Quinn to but it’s a promotion so they can’t

Anyone else a little concerned that Quinn/Whitt seem hyper focused on the Dallas defensive staff? I hope they are looking beyond that. We’ve seen this before. There are a lot of great coaches that aren’t currently in Dallas.

I’m sure they are self evaluating along the way. Buffalo ran Dallas out of the stadium. Green Bay shredded them. Same can be said for Kingsburry. Is it chuck and duck all day? No tight ends? I’m guessing they are going to evolve on that side of the ball.

I wish we could have gotten Chris Harris back. Does anyone know if we have reached out to him?

I’m not concerned about that last game or that the guys they want to talk to aren’t solid coaches. But if you are looking for the best you have to get out of your immediate circle and cast a wider net. I haven’t heard of them asking permission to speak to anyone that isn’t a Dallas coach so far.

Guessing this is our new QBs coach

In my business life, when starting a new one or taking over a failing existing one, I always brought in my tried and true to get it headed in the right direction quickly. Nothing to learn about me for them or them for me.

At a minimum in this case (Quinn vs Rivera), at least Quinn is looking at candidates from a successful recent history.

I get it but I’ll stand by my point.
