The Jekyll and Hyde is typical of a losing organization.

I remember when the Giants were an awful team in the 1970's but would rise up and beat either Dallas or Minnesota when they were 12-2 caliber clubs.

The next week Washington would beat the Giants 21-3.

It's in the nature of losing that a coaching staff and team caught in the 'vortex' can't bottle enough success to turn the page as a group.

We need to get rid of Ron and his front office lackeys and then get a fresh perspective on the roster and who needs to stay and go.

How Del Rio turned out to be worse than Joe Barry and Jim Haslett is mind blowing.

I dunno. Can JDR’s defense can’t stop anyone and I can’t remember a game where JDR out-chested the OC he was pitted against. We have won games defensively, but Haslett started out a few seasons with a top five ranking so… I do t knew w that I’d pick JDR ahead of any of them if I needed a stop.

From the moment Ron hitched his wagon on Jack Del Rio to run his defense 4 years ago, he signed his own pink slip.

This defense gives up 30 points to any good offense we face.

For a team that finished out of the playoffs last year you would think we would improve with the infusion of new talent via the draft.

Well, so far the draft has produced ZERO in terms of on field production.

#1 - Forbes - Benched and remains a raw work in progress. Drafted too high at #16.

#2 - Martin - Average player. Again, drafted too high. There were better players at positions such as OT and TE this club has desperately needed for YEARS.

#3 - Stromberg - Here's a guy that on a team with back end of the roster starter at OC, Nick Gates, can't even make enough of an impression that he is the top backup off the bench when there is an injury or poor performance. Instead we reach back for Tyler Larsen at age 31/32.

#4 - Daniels - an offensive tackle that showed little in camp and was so far down the depth chart appeared to be a candidate for release until he was put on IR for the season to hide him out and avoid the embarrassment.


Great draft for an 8-8 club.

Really is turning into an all time bad draft. Now, to be fair, every rookie deserves a year to develop so none of them are busts yet, but the early results are just awful.

Stromberg did a great job in his only appearance. It’s not his fault this coaching staff waits until seasons are over to give the guys they drafted significant playing time.

This is both great and damning. It's an indictment on our coaches. Mind you, in my present mood I will vote to convict on any indictment of our coaches. It's also great because I bet DG does have a wealth of knowledge to share and probably can see things even after being so many years out of the game that can be addressed. I mean Forbes was good enough in college to have been rated worth a second round draft pick so there's got to be good clay. The biggest knock on him was supposed to be size and durability and if Green knows anything it's how to be successful being undersized and going against giants.

Forbes should never have been thrown out there as a Day 1 starter.

Remember when Del Rio did the same with Jamin Davis and he looked lost at middle linebacker?

This club consistently overestimates the ability of these players to get on the field and make immediate contributions.

A good part of that, though, is the fact the players themselves are raw, physical talents that don't seem to have the polish and maturity to be Day 1 starters.

Davis started at MLB at Kentucky for ONE year. That's it. That's not a lot of experience to hand your hat on. He didn't have basic understanding of how to play effectively in the passing game and that showed from Game 1.

Emmanuel Forbes ran a 4.3 but he SHOULD be running a 4.3 when he only weights 167 pounds!

Forbes to me looked like a great late #2 or #3 pick to develop but taking a guy with that kind of physical challenge at #16?

At #16 you should be taking a player there are ostensibly no questions about. Barring injuries, players taken that high are expected to be capable Year 1 starters, able to hold up physically and mentally to the rigors of the NFL game.

That's why you have players drop to Round 2 or 3 when they were stars in college - either they didn't play in a sophisticated system in college or didn't get the kind of game rep experience a player usually needs. Also, if the player is a 5'11 linebacker or a corner who is 167 pounds or a quarterback who can make all the throws but is 5'11 or 6'0, these guys usually fall out of Round 1 as the accent there is on acquiring STARTERS not developmental players.

San Francisco made that mistake with Trey Lance at #4 and they lived to regret giving up that much compensation for a player with limited game experience in college.

The two Eagles games are proof that Sam Howell being productive with the football does not necessarily translate into wins for the Washington Commanders.

It shows us that the REST of the roster is not up to the level it needs to be to progress in the NFC East, where the team currently sits at 0-3.

Agreed. It also showed what a lot of us thought. Sam Howell with decent protection is already a good QB.

The NFL compensatory pick algorithm is
complicated (and not public). The point is, it’s a gamble as there is no guarantee we get anything for these departures.

Does it though? For sure? Or does it just show that parts of the organization are not up to the level to progress?

To me, I think there is talent here in a lot of positions. I also think it is being used incorrectly which is on sub-par coaching.

Well, I see Howell's best 2 games this year result in losses where we scored over 30 points but couldn't stop anyone.

And then there was the Bears game where we made their wide receiver look like Jerry Rice for 3 quarters. 200 yards receiving? Give me a f****** break.

How can you let one guy consistently beat you that badly and not change up coverages or personnel?

This team can't get out of its own way.

And Ron on the sidelines isn't streaming his 'zen' to others, that relaxed look is the thought he is picking up $5M to coach this sucker for another few weeks before he hits the links full-time.

It's hard to know what version of this team is 'the real one'. Look at any unit in a given game and they can look like a disaster, or promising as hell. Just depends on the game. That does seem to indicate coaching and scheme are the biggest issues vs. talent, at least in most cases.

I'm not sure we'll know what we've got on this squad until they clean house and hopefully get competent leadership.

yep, that was Magic Johnson's point. A losing team can stand up and play an outstanding game here and there but cannot maintain any consistency of focus, concentration and effort. In some cases this is in spite of talent on hand.

So, I've been out of the country and missed the last two games, although I was able to listen to some of the Eagles game. What did I miss? Seems like the same old same old?
