I mean, they drafted him. After that it was only Rivera failing to find a starter that even resulted in Howell getting a shot. And had he not looked balled out and looked ready in that one 2022 opportunity, we might be looking at Brissett or someone else as starter. I think Bienemy probably said ‘this kid may have some special ability’ and that sealed the deal.
 
I think Rivera is going to be under a lot more scrutiny for anything he says. He's done enough foot in mouth that it feels like it's picking up momentum even to those not close to the program.
 
I guess Brock Purdy’s performance off the bench was ignored by Ron.

Younger players in today’s league where plays are called by the sideline can get on the field and make an impact if they have a modicum of talent.

It’s not like Ron had Aaron Rodgers coming off IR.

Wentz was done in the league. If we could see it Ron should have seen it.

No more fire in his belly.

Just like Jeff George in 2003.

Wentz isn’t hurt, he’s gun shy and afraid to take hits.
 
The Redskins waived or released offensive tackle Alex Akingbulu, wide receiver Kazmeir Allen, defensive tackle Abdullah Anderson, tight end/fullback Alex Armah, defensive end William Bradley-King, offensive guard Mason Brooks, safety Terrell Burgess, cornerback Tariq Castro-Fields, quarterback Jake Fromm, running back Derrick Gore, linebacker De’Jon Harris, offensive tackle Jaryd Jones-Smith, center Tyler Larsen, offensive guard Nolan Laufenberg, defensive tackle Benning Potoa’e, safety Kendall Smith, wide receiver Brycen Tremayne, cornerback Jace Whittaker, cornerback Nick Whiteside II and cornerback Rachad Wildgoose.

The Redskins announced they have placed four players on injured reserve. Tight end Brandon Dillon, wide receiver Kyric McGowan, tight end Kaden Smith and running back Jonathan Williams will spend the season on IR unless they reach an injury settlement with the team.
 
Washington claimed Tariq Castro-Fields and Rachad Wildgoose in a spasm of post cut-down activity last year and at least Castro-Fields seemed to have a good resume of starting 3 years in college, being 6'1 and 195 and having good speed.

But neither player to this point stands out even with the second teamers on the field.

Those 2 looked like total garbage in the preseason.
 
Yet both Ron and Jack were over the moon they were able to bring these players in after cut down day last year.

You would think the club was able to sign young, emerging talent on the cusp of starting games in the league.

How much of that kind of talent really gets cut though?

Every team is looking for "young, emerging talent" on those cheap rookie deals.

Was just listening to EB on 106 and something he said really impressed me . He said it’s important for him to remind himself that if Howell makes a mistake it’s probably because it’s the first time it’s happened, due to playing experience or lack there of . He went on to say how he would approach the situation and make easier for him to understand as to not make the mistake again . Perhaps a different approach vs a veteran signal caller Knowing your player is paramount. That dude is refreshing to listen to

And i'm hoping (contrary to what the fanbase will likely do) it means Bieniemy is going to be patient with him. Fans (especially Washington fans) are very reactive and it's been said 1000 times before... the most popular person in Washington is the back up QB and whatever politician is running for the next election.

Hall of Fame cornerback Champ Bailey will return to the Commanders as an alumnus for the first time on Sunday when he will be honored as Washington's Legend of Game and will serve as an honorary captain.
