BGO NFL Draft Zoom Party

Okay, happy we got a Center. Have no idea if he's good, but the brief breakdown sounded pretty good.

I think he’s super solid and has played both guard spots too. Big corn-fed white guy. I’d have preferred the UVa/Michigan center but will take it.

Why not take DB in Round 1, OL in Round 2 and another DB in Round 3 if depth is an issue.

You have St. Juste and Fuller and add Forbes at corner. Is it that important to add a fourth corner before addressing protection for Howell?

Stromberg was described on ESPN as being a good technician at center but a bit undersized and not a great athlete.

That translates in the NFL to a guy that puts out 110% effort but ends up getting worked by guys like Dexter Lawrence and Fletcher Cox in the East.

There were interior guys in Round 2 that came in without that many questions and looked to be plug and play starters, especially given the talent on this cub right now.

Washington could have moved up and taken the top rated center in Round 2 with show of a little nerve.

Other teams were simply not sitting in place waiting for their number to be called.

Rivera and his group remind me of the ‘robo advisors’ brokerage firms try and throw at investors for % management fees to passively buy an index.

There was some passion in the Lions draft room and in Pittsburgh’s as well.

Whether they strike it rich or strike out at least they had a pulse.

This is about where I am as well in terms of how I feel.

There is no doubt that Washington needs an outside Corner and another flex option in the Secondary. This is especially true when you consider that Fuller might be near the end of the line in Washington soon, St. Juste is an injury worry, and there are still question marks surrounding Curl's contract situation. In that regard, I understand the selection of Martin. However, once Detroit grabbed Branch (who also plays that flex Secondary role), it seemed as though we simply were content in taking the next best player who plays that role, and that happened to be Martin. It's almost like they were dead set on plugging that gap before taking care of any other type of business in the draft. O'Cyrus Torrence and John Michael Schmitz were both higher rated OL options sitting there waiting to be taken as certain plug and play options along your offensive front. To make matters worse, Torrence lands on a Super Bowl contender in Buffalo and Schmitz ends up with a division rival. I don't have nothing against Stromberg, but from what I have learned about him, I am not sure he projects as an instant starter in '23 - and that's what we desperately need on our o-line. Now we are sitting here entering Day 3 of the draft without one clear cut starter added to protect Howell. I think that's an exercise in playing with fire.

I agree with every word of your all's comments. Just conjecture here - but you have to wonder if it's possible that the Harris group has communicated to Rivera and Mayhew 'do what you see fit in the draft - but DO NOT trade future assets to move up'.

I think it's quite possible they've been instructed not to dip into future drafts in this one.

If they did, Ron is a really good actor. He was on camera driving in talking about it, at the facility talking about them, and then celebrating after they picked them.

I've done stuff I hated but was ordered to do (military people know this) but I never was almost giddy about it. I just did what I was told and carried on.

Mark Tyler bringing the heat...

If the defensive backfield roster stays static today and the team doesn’t make a move on Fuller, (which I seriously doubt considering the need to win now), the 11 would be:

BSJ, Fuller, Forbes, Martin, Curl, Forrest, Butler, Holmes, Johnson, Dantzler, and Reaves.

Forbes, Martin, and Dantzler would replace Wildgoose, Castro-Fields, and Apke.

That’s not nothing but none of them can play OT.

Why is wildgoose gone? Just curious

My guess is because they won’t keep 12. Maybe he beats out Dantzler.

Roullier is most likely a post June 1 cut.

Gates and now Stromberg can play both center and guard. Plus, as I mentioned before, they seem to be high on Chris Paul, who they drafted last year.

Be interesting to see who they take today. Dawand Jones is still on the board but he has weight issues, penalty issues and his RAS score (6.8) goes against this team's philosophy/history under Ron.

Braeden Daniels G Utah

Played LG and can play OT. Another lineman with a high RAS score (9.65)

NFL Network sounded pretty negative on him, but the write up looks good. So, I don’t know.

Right position. Feels like with the run there might have been a different position with someone graded higher.
