End of an Error

A nomination for the eulogy.

Great stuff. The scathing criticism of the NFL was right on point, and one of the reasons I'm going to have trouble coming back as a fan. It's not just the team. It's the whole league. I'm sure I will be more enthusiastic as a fan than I have been for the past 15 years, but I still have trouble getting past just how corrupt and awful the NFL itself is.

Still, a great day. :)

Being free of this pos after 25 plus years. It is an emotional time. We’ve been so beaten down that I’m sure we will need some time to fully gain our confidence back. I will enjoy seeing those celebrate in public. A beautiful day has arrived. I’m more introspective so I will have a drink or two on my own. I’m so happy for everyone here who has felt imprisoned by rooting for this team. Millions of people are happier today. That is a beautiful thing.

Chris Russell used the phrase 'End of an Error' 4-5 times today. I feel like I should be getting royalties or a shout out :(

He follows the BGO account on Instagram. No doubt he saw your awesome write-up, John.

Snyder has been at his worst at the most important position in the NFL. Consider the players he had a primary or influential role in bringing here:

1. Jeff George (free agent)
2. Patrick Ramsey (#1 draft choice)
3. Donovan McNabb (traded for #2 and #3 draft choices)
4. Robert Griffin III (traded for multiple #1's and #2 draft choices)
5. Alex Smith (traded for #3 pick, Kendall Fuller and signed to rich extension at 35)
6. Dwayne Haskins (#1 draft choice)
7. Carson Wentz (traded two #3 draft choices and paid him $28M for a season he finished 2-5 and near bottom of QBR)

I am not counting the acquisitions of Mark Brunell or Jason Campbell which fell mainly on Coach Gibbs nor am I counting Kirk Cousins who by all accounts was a Shanahan pick that Snyder had discounted due to the team taking Griffin the same year at #2 overall.

Among the mistakes Snyder made both with the team and off the field with employees and in his treatment of human beings, THIS failure at qb is the single biggest reason this team reflected the record it did over the 20 plus years he was here.

His walking into the Draft Room in 2019 and demanding the team draft Dwayne Haskins at #15 over the objections of everyone else in football operations was a classic window into the man's arrogance and lack of respect for the judgment of others, including those he was paying millions of dollars to.
