So since we know that guy exists ... it's the lens I will be looking at Howell through this Sunday.

Back on topic ... I do appreciate the idea of going into this offseason with Howell as the projected starter, but I'm not ready to sign off on it just yet. It makes sense on a lot of levels, but I'm also thinking there's a whole lot of long days and developement between now and the draft for things to change, or evolve ... enough so that I'm not ready to close any doors just yet.

I think Wilson paved the way for that... the "Shortstop" style QB more than the statue.
 
That's fair on Wilson--he did start us down that road. I think 15 has taken it to the next level though ...

Curiosity got the better of me so I looked it up

Howell - 6'1"
Heinicke - 6'1"

Maybe he has lifts in his shoes that will help him see over the big guys..

From what I remember reading, they may be the same size but do not have the same arm. Doesn't Howell have a rifle?

Maybe in college...never seen it in the NFL.

I'm rooting for the kid, but this smells like a bad deal. He's being set up to either be savior or failure from his first game.

True. If they sit his running back and half his oline against a Dallas D playing for something that's not good. I mean our o-line was already porous and I have to trust that the backups they haven't played are worse. Still, I'd love to see some flashes.

As for the coaches, I wonder if there could be mixed feelings. I am sure they want him to do really well, but if he does then the question of why they refused to give him a shot earlier when both Heinicke and Wentz were struggling will need to be answered. Not that that isn't a hard question to answer.

He's got a big arm.

I'm not crazy about short QBs, but some guys seem to be able to overcome that and some don't. We'll see.
 
He's got a big arm and is more mobile than Wentz. Not sure what his speed rating is in Madden. :)

Big question will be grasp of the offense since he's not practicing a ton with the players during the season.
 
... and that as of this afternoon it looks like his backfield will consist of Jonathan Williams and Jarrett Patterson. Welcome to the NFL kid.

I talked to a guy at work who is from Bethesda. He has met Taylor and he laughed about the 6'1" listing. He himself is 6'1" and he said Taylor was 5'10" tops.

After seeing a couple of photos of Taylor standing next to Wentz on the field, I believe him.

I don't think it's unfair at all to demand your measurement be taken while you are standing on top of your center's shoulders. With this in mind, I am easily over 11 feet tall. Heinicke standing on his shoulder pads is uninventive.
