Wasn't Irsay in rehab for addiction to prescription pills (oxy)? Didn't he fall asleep with pills in his system found by state trooper along the road in Indiana?

I thought he was in alcohol rehab as well.

The point is there are a number of NFL owners that have checkered records and backgrounds in terms of personal conduct.

Jones has done a pretty good job of making his troubles go away through negotiated settlements.
 
Yes, I believe that's correct about Irsay which in my mind makes him a good one to publicly come out. His skeletons are already out there......as far as we know.
 
The point is:

You don't want the guy who is easily discredited leading the charge. There are plenty of others who don't have the same blaring and recent issues that irsay does that can do it and it not be brushed aside
 
I get that, I guess I was thinking through the lens that if Snyder wants to bring up dirt on people he might not have any on Irsay that isn't already out there. I have a suspicion too that the media is not going to care which owner goes on record. They are going to run with it because they will smell blood in the water.
 
And I think that points to the fact that the owners are not well-organized with a strategy to manage their business and oust a wart like Snyder.

If owners keep acting as individuals nothing will happen and Snyder will stay put due to the chaos.

I agree. I just know when someone with a dirty face says "you have something on your face" I tend to not take them as seriously as someone who is known clean and honest.
 
It's a huge deal that someone on the inside has said it, because I don't think the court of public opinion is in play here. If it was... Snyder would already be gone. The fact that this came from ANY owner is a massive, massive development.

I just hope this isn't the NFL's way of getting ahead of it, and now they can call for a 'vote' that they claim they held and simply say 'we couldn't get the votes"
 
USA Today is taking some strong language... and now Commanders fans are donating to Irsay's charity to say thank you.

 
I hate to be prejudicial but who is 'clean and honest'?

We have seen Irsay, Robert Kraft, Jones, Davis, Ross, and others with scandal eruptions during their time as owners.

And then there are the Shad Khans and Fords of the NFL that allow their NFL teams to continually fail to become relevant, in the case of the Fords their performance as owners is one of the worst in professional sports history.

Their team has not won a championship since 1957 and have never appeared in a Super Bowl.

These teams really should be part of a second division in the NFL, akin to the second division in the Premier League where teams that don't measure up are put on a less visible and competitive track.

Irsay has had personal issues. That’s not the same thing as fostering a workplace where abuse and sexual harassment are commonplace and tolerated.

I think with Snyder purportedly paying PIs to dig up dirt on fellow owners and the inherent threat implied by that (and apparently overt threats attributed to Snyder), a guy some would consider most at risk being the one to call Snyder out is pretty powerful. And it might not just be ‘Irsay being Irsay’ but may be by design.
 
Different kinds of demons.

Irsay's issues are profoundly and directly personal. Addiction has come to be seen as an illness by modern society, one that needs to be treated with compassion, understanding, and support.

Whereas, with the rise of #metoo culture, Snyder's issues are seen as a societal illness of the past where women lived with misogynistic shitheads in the workplace because society expected them to. It was a cost of having a job. No longer is that the case.

So, this scene only serves to highlight how our society is evolving. To that end, there might not be any better person among the owners to go public with his views.

The reality is that we all have our skeletons. No one is immune. Picking someone to step out in front whose past is largely a matter of public record already is smart. Picking someone who appears squeaky clean to the public is only a great idea if they don't have something to hide that Snyder might know about.
 
If you don't think his lawyer will go after all of his personal demons and speak on them until people believe he is not worth listening to, I don't know what else to say.

We see it all the time. The power of truth doesn't necessarily make you the winner. If it did, innocent people wouldn't go to prison, women wouldn't be labeled as sluts for turning men down. Etc etc.
 
I desperately hope that Snyder publicly attacks one of the other owners for two main reasons-

1. It will finally be the straw that breaks his back with them.

2. The sheer entertainment value.
 
Irsay has now tagged some other key players.

Not sure if this means they've said something, or if he's just pointing them out as people who 'wouldn't' put up with this stuff. At a minimum, he's putting their names in the headlines, and they'll likely get approached.

I read that Breer story and I didn’t get the impression. He was insinuating those other owners/Tagliabue were pro-removal of Snyder, just that he was referencing them as ‘stalwart’ guys who wanted what’s best for the league vs just looking out for their individual teams. Maybe they are pro-removal but I didn’t get that from the article.

yeah my post was a little weak.

I got the same notion, when I said "tagged' I meant more like Irsay was pointing them out either that he had heard things behind closed doors, or he was pushing to get a microphone in front of their face and calling them out to stand up and talk.
 
That’s not to say he didn’t reference them because they are on the same page
