Read the latest Jason Wright Interview

I’ve included a few brief snippets below, but interested in what folks think of what he has to say here. He seems to have this dogged belief that all of the franchises issues are due to the previous regimes and that the biggest issue is that fans just need to be drug into this new era of sunshine and light. I still don’t think he ‘gets it’ and maybe he never will. On the other hand, even if he understands what and who Dan Snyder is, he obviously can’t speak about it if he wants to continue in his role. I don’t have a problem with that, or at least I understand it. My issue is his belief that we are all just stuck in the past and that everything has been fixed when the guy responsible for it all is still at the top of the org chart and missteps have continued under his watch. The interview is littered with corporate speak and platitudes…

I really want to like Wright and he’s certainly an improvement over some of the other executive low-life’s we’ve seen, but it’s still a struggle for me.

*******************************

Wright expressed optimism in the team's direction, noting that in sports, progress is often reflected in ticket sales a year later.

"We're not quite there yet, right?" Wright said. "We're not going to have a full stadium for every game this year. And I don't want to get ahead of our team being able to tell the real story of the resurgence of the fan base, which is probably still another year or so out. I'll tell you, in terms of (positive) momentum, is the best way to describe it and the most accurate way."

Wright said the team also still hasn't fully escaped what he deemed the "headwinds" of continued negative headlines about owner Dan Snyder.

"I think the moment we've gone, I don't know what the timeline is, but the moment we've gone a few months without another thing, 'Ghosts of Christmas past,' popping up, it will accelerate even further," said Wright. "We know that we have a lot of sponsorships sitting right here on the table that are ready to go, despite the fact that we're up significantly already."

Of the sponsors, Wright added: "They see how we operate, and they see our new leadership team. And they're like, you know what, we can do this. Because we know that you all share our values, and we're going to be in a good spot. We know the headwinds will pass and we're going to be in a good spot."

If Wright and Co. had not put a foot wrong in his time here, I'd buy his mantra of "that is all part of the past" but he has his own screw-ups to account for.

Sean Taylor fiasco
Name change fiasco
Stadium maintenance fiasco(s)

Just to name 3 real quick off the top of my head... :cautious:

Look, I get that the dude has to walk a tightrope when he talks because he works for one of the most sensitive and vindictive f*cks of all time but I'm not going to buy the marketing speak when my eyes tell me something different. Believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see.

Here it is in a nutshell … when talking about the past issues of the club and where they are with the same owner GETS YOU IN TROUBLE… maybe stop talking?

You know the old adage… when you find yourself in a whole, stop digging :)

Color scheme fiasco
Super bowl years fiasco
Fight song fiasco
Mascot fiasco

I think the worst part is how indignant he is about it. "I guess we can change the years if the fans really care that much". Just admit it was a failure and move forward!

Exactly Mike

Being over your head in a job AND arrogant/self-righteous is not a winning combination.

Because Snyder is still here and because he was likely a major actor in the bad culture the team has to earn rather than be given the benefit of the doubt.
Do I believe that Rivera, Wright, et al are trying. Sure, but we’ve been burned too many times including this year.

Jason pointing out all the great things this organization is currently doing and bragging about how other teams are picking Washington's brain just doesn't do it for me. Not when there are 30 years of dysfunction and trauma that many of us are still trying to work through with this team. He seems to feel that some positive organizational changes are all of a sudden going to make us give him the benefit of the doubt. Sure, he has a tough job to do, but at some point, just put your head down and let the good work speak for itself. Quit bragging.

I completely agree. But I also think that this is where we are as a society. You brag about things that aren’t true, things you never did, and then just don’t expect people to follow up on the results. If they do, you just move to the next brag to distract them from the last thing you talked about but never actually did.

they want to have a guest experience survey? How about getting a winning team and the fans will come. OUR fans

It's just a general lack of attention to detail across the board. I think Wright wants to do a great job, but for whatever reason he's either just way too hands off or way too inexperienced to be at the top of the food chain. Far too many gaffes and misteps for a franchise that can't afford them. Let's face it - on most franchises the fans don't even know the names of the non-football people. That's probably the way it should be.

In my heart of hearts, I have to think Wright is as horrified and embarrassed by a lot of Snyder's history and the behaviors that clearly went on from the top down during his era as we are, but he needs to find a way to express that. I don't expect him to openly accuse or berate the owner publicly, but he could do a lot better job of choosing his words. 'Ghosts of Christmas past?'???? Some of those 'ghosts' were women who were perpetually abused at work. How can you, as a supposedly very smart and savvy man, throw that term out there so casually? If nothing else, it shows you are beyond tone deaf.

Slapping a bunch of happy talk on things, taking credit for the supposed sea change in culture, and minimizing what went on before - that's not smart and savvy…by a long shot.

It's unfortunate - because it takes all of the focus off of the guy who should have all the heat in the world on him. Dan Snyder. And it makes Jason Wright, who is probably a pretty solid human, look like a hypocritical Snyder apologist.

I've said it before, and i'll say it again. A lot of the decisions SEEM to be from the right mindset, but there are just a complete oversight of details... generally resulting in less than great optics surrounding events that should be very positive.

The weekend of February 27th, the team hosted a bunch of NEW season ticket holders at the stadium. They were able to walk out and physically stand in their new seats. This was almost 4 weeks after 2/2/22 where the team name was announced. If you look at the image below, the field looks like trash. THIS was an EASY roll out of the new field design. New Logo at midfield. New endzone paint. Roll out your NEW TEAM NAME with PRIDE. I know they replaced the field this offseason, but they HAD to know that pictures like THIS would make their way around the Twitter world. It's free advertising.

The Sean Taylor debacle was bad.. but to add insult to injury, the freakin road sign was placed HERE: Front and center... with the prestigious back drop of a row of porta potties....

Game 1 of the preseason, the freakin 'W' at mid field was so lightly painted, it was almost transparent. The yardlines and hashmarks were clearly visible through the paint. The logo looked good (it's continuing to grow on me) but it looked like it was plate glass.

These things among the others that have been outlined continue to prove that this team is not trying to do the right thing for the fans... they're trying to do things to change Q Rating. Someone who has no actual investment in the fanbase other than the fact that they pay the bills, is the one making these decisions. It's obvious with ANY job... when someone takes PRIDE in their company / customers / employees, the details are not overlooked... When they're doing things the way they are now... it's pretty easy to see how shallow the investment truly is...
