The Bombshell

It takes 2/3 of the owners to force a sale, so 24.

Keim reported that the feeling is thatDanny Boy would go scorched earth against the other owners, name names etc, and tie the league up in litigation for years if it happened.

What would the ownership group be most afraid of?

Just think about what would happen if all your work emails were available for all your colleagues and the public to see. You may not have anything illegal in there, but you may have plenty of embarrassing things. Things you said about your boss, your coworkers, customers, etc. None may be illegal, but they may be harsh and things you didn’t want others to see. Think of the Gruden situation. He said nothing illegal or anything that had any impact on the game or league. But Gruden being Gruden meant he would use the harshest and most vulgar words he could find it describe something, which led him to use slurs that got him fired. I’d be willing to bet there are owners who have used similar slurs or vulgar descriptions of players, refs, executives, and even other owners. They don’t want that in the public. The PR hit would be a nightmare for them. The weasel probably knows enough to get a handful or more in trouble.

If the owners are really about scorched earth tactics, then it will come down to....does it hurt them more to keep him or try and leave him in position? I bet they have ways to incentivize a sale that doesn't require them to vote on it. I mean Richardson sold the Panthers without the NFL owners officially taking a stand.

If Danny starts dropping bombs, how long before he gets Epsteined?

Richardson had a conscience.

Yeah, Richardson knew he was in the wrong and stepped aside. That doesn’t seem likely here.

From Florio...

"At some point, Snyder needs to worry less about Congress and more about the league. At some point, the desire to help Snyder (which frankly comes from a desire by other owners to avoid landing in a similar jackpot) will be outweighed by the desire to be done with him. The way things are going, it seems like it’s just a matter of time before the league tells him to get lost."

Was Florio reading my mind?

I may not remember all of the details of the Panthers situation, but we always have to remember that Snyder has indicated this is a "family affair" for him. I think he sees this team as a "Snyder family" toy for generations. He will not give up willingly for any reason since he sees it that way, I think.

Richardson had a conscience.
True. He announced his intention to sell the team the day after allegations were aired.

That Moreland piece meant for the sons section BB?

This brain trust has made some head scratchers so far in FA & the draft. If they don’t hit on both this off-season the team is further behind the 8 ball.

I made a mistake. I'm writing an article and the article you saw will be used as a reference.

Gotta dumb question here….can’t Beth Wilkinson release the report that SHE authored?

purely speculative here...

Wilkinson was hired BY DAN SNYDER. That means he is her client as an attorney. The NFL took over that report, but it's said there is a 'common interest' agreement that means both Dan Snyder AND the NFL have to approve the findings be released..
