Especially given the high miss factor on them. I feel like you should draft a QB and a WR in every draft because it's very difficult to hit on a true star based on college performance.

And they're volatile. Antonio Brown and Odell Beckham were considered cornerstone players as recently as 3 years ago. Now they're complimentary pieces and not even top 3 targets on their respective teams if not for injury.

Not sure if it’s Heineken figuring his shit out or what but D. Carter is emerging as a legitimate threat at wr. At minimum he’s a very solid #3 imo and should be locked down for a few seasons.

Spending a 1st on a QB and following it with a WR then OL with the 2nd & 3rd would be the best bet going forward in April.

Anyone else see the difference in the eyes of Heinicke over the past two games? Less wide eyed and more like a guy who’s been doing this for years.

Said it in chat. I'll be the first to say, I think Heinicke should be our unquestioned starter for the forseeable future. Yeah, I know. Doesn't have an NFL starter. Isn't an NFL starter. Will never be an NFL starter. Except that some guys defy the norm and just have 'it'. I think he's that player.

Build this team and ride with Heinicke 100%.

And just to state it as emphatically as I can, we need a franchise QB - turns out he is already on this roster.

Heiny will probably have to tap a few minds to get some more insight to the position. Brees in particular.

But is he better than nearly every other backup in the league? Yes. He's also better than the likes of Daniel Jones, Jared Goff, etc.

I’m still going with…

1. QB
2. WR
3. OL

Then

4. RB
5. OL or TE
6. CB/S
7. CB/S

Basically the first 4 rounds should go to the offense while filling defense needs in FA, imho

Some of you guys break down the mechanics far better than I, but I’m digging Carson Strong with one of our picks. He’s also got a 6’6” TE who’s got hands & a good wr in # 7. Hell we could get 1 of them at least, both had like 11 td’s a piece.

Also be fine taking Sam Howell with our 1st, kid has a live arm and escapability.

There have been some great players picked at #11.

Ben Roethlisberger
JJ Watt
Michael Irving (yeah, I know)
Dante Culpepper
Dwight Freeny
Paul Warfield
Frank Gifford

And...

Wilber Marshall

The Washington Foot Team has never picked at #11 before this year.

(for those curious, WFT has also never picked at 14, 21, 23, 24, 27, and 29)

Watching a Matt Corral vid and seen this catch from the ole miss #13 at the 0:53 second mark, pretty nice catch. This team needs that type of a WR/TE for the new guy.

Edit: He’s a TE…and hard pass on Corral. Watched vids of him against Alabama & Tennessee, going public with my no

Is that including trades too or as is?

I THINK he's asking if we ever held those draft positions and traded out of them, or if we've actually NEVER held those particular draft positions.

Yep, basically was wondering if they’ve ever had those positions and opted out with a trade.

Strong has an arm like a cannon but limited mobility.

Sounds like an exact wash, from what we have.
He's the antithesis of Heinicke in every way

yeah I think he's got the ability to play in the NFL because he's got the ability to do the things needed like throwing guys open and throwing with anticipation.... He played at Nevada so he didn't have elite WRs who were smoking defenses. He did have a lot of pre-snap responsibilities, so that can help mature a QB pretty quick... He also had an injury concern but showed up all week without a knee brace and looked fine so that's a plus. I dont think he goes 11th overall. I think hes in play if it's a trade back scenario, or if he were to fall to the 2nd round and we opt for a playmaker in Rd 1.

Edit: My god i said also a lot, that read like a field of speed bumps, gotta fix that

I wonder if the term "mobility" includes how slippery a QB is, and his escapability, or if the term just describes his ability to move agile and far.
Like some QB's, for example Big Ben, are not real mobile, but they are slippery in a way that they can be hard to sack, just by making the right subtle moves to avoid the sack, as opposed to running an obstacle course or a marathon to get a 1st down. If that makes sense.

If the term does not include the aspect I described, there should be a box you can check that says "Slipperability" :)
