I've been critical of him being capable of being a starter, but it's 100% due to arm strength... It appears EVERYTHING else is there. I wish he had a bigger arm because that's the kind of guy you're proud is your starting QB

Came home from work and my son had the Tampa game on TV. He was showing his tutor's son how we destroyed them.

My youngest comes in, sees it on tv, and starts screaming "let's go Redskins!"

My heart grew 3x that day...

I actually went to the game on Sunday. Over the summer my son asked to see the defense play against Tom Brady, and my dad said he'd go too. As much as I hate to give the NFL any money I just couldn't say no to a day with my dad and my son watching football.

Of course that was in August before any of the new scandals and various disasters hit the team. I spent two months dreading having to go to this game.

I spent $130 on a good parking spot so my 86 year-old dad wouldn't have to walk two miles to our nosebleed seats. Parking was a freaking disaster. We couldn't get to our spot so we drove through a barricade and one of the parking attendants saw us and said "just park here I won't tell." Thankfully it was close. The food was expensive and terrible and despite the empty stadium the lines were long. Everywhere.

The seats in the 400s were probably 40% Washington, 30% Tampa and 30% empty. Washington fans at this point are really punchy. Spent most of the first quarter sarcastically complimenting the team for good plays, joking about how over-rated Brady was to much laughter ... that sort of thing. Some drunk Tampa fan behind us tried to talk some trash and ... nobody cared. Just basically got laughed at by Washington fans who have nothing to lose. Very different than in the old days. One Tampa fan in the front of our section had a 'Tampa Bay Bucs 2020 World Champions' flag and he kept standing up and waving with whenever the Bucs got a first down or something. By the fourth quarter some DC fan behind me started yelling "where's the flag?! Bring out the flag!" as the Footballers were driving for the win. I have to admit that was satisfying. Such moments are so few and far between these days.

Anyway, it was fun and a good day to spend with the family. The win was great. I don't think I'm going back.
 
I had hoped to provide a similar 'in person' report for Sunday's game, but I've got a vicious cold and decided not to make the trip. So will root from my living room as usual :)
 
Yeah, I used to go every time they played in Charlotte. But I’m out of town at a wedding this weekend. The good old days when looked forward to watching them play in Redskins Stadium South.

I heard this, and I while I think he's partially right... the whole interview reeked of sour grapes. He criticized us for 'paying Curtis Samuel $75 mil' when his deal is 3 years, $34.5m....half what Smith was saying.

I GUESS Smith could have some insight because he did play for Norv in Carolina for a very short time, so maybe he can see some of the same things now that he saw then, but the whole things sounded spiteful.

Turner called a better game (or the offense executed the game better) this weekend. It needs to be consistent. It can't be drives here and there...

From a 40 something year old dude still wear a flat brimmed ball cap and saggy pants...I really don't think he's qualified to judge anyone. He looks like he still hangs out around schools trying to get an invite to a kegger so he can still be cool.

Great receiver, horrible role model, even worse commentator.

That’s something that has happened and we need to course correct…like the way that we royally F’d up the Sean Taylor jersey retirement. I’m so grateful that the family was blessed and so rewarded and so honored, but our fans didn’t get the right opportunity to celebrate that.

Wright deserves credit for owning this, whether it was decision or not. He also understood what Taylor meant to the fans.

“Part of that is the institutional knowledge that we lost and the understanding that even if we had done a best-class jersey retirement according to NFL standards, that wouldn’t have been enough because this is a spiritual thing for this fanbase,” Wright said.

“This is something much, much deeper and we needed a much more comprehensive approach, and so we’re going to hire back into the organization and bring back into the organization the right institutional knowledge and connection to the history.”

I know there were a lot of tough QB matchups early on, but what do the coaches not do early or do later in the season? Why has there been such a drastic difference in the play if the defense later in the year for 2 straight seasons? Even the bad teams like NYG and ATL had good offensive performances early. I think that’s something coaches need to work on going into next season. They could be in the drivers seat if not for those losses earlier in the year where the D looked lost.

I think we're seeing more and more the lasting effects of all the abbreviated offseason / preseason activites. The teams that come out and seem to not miss a beat, genearlly are the ones that have established systems in place. The ultimate X-factor on offense is elite QB play. We're a young team, so development is still ongoing, so it's not a hot take to believe the defense will continue to get better the more it plays together. We were seeing blown assignments, missed tackles, and inexplicable breakdowns in coverage all over the place. It makes you wonder.... was it schemactic, or were guys THAT bad at executing? I've been massively critical of our scheme... but things look different.

I don't think it can be overstated just how different this team plays with a lead. We've been behind in a lot of those games where the defense is exposed.
