Hi everyone, this is my first post here. I was a passionate Redskin fan during the "Classic Years," and I've started writing about some of the great stories from those years on my new blog, BeltwayFootballHistory.com I hope it's ok to share posts here, I'd love to get some discussions started with other loyal fans, sharing memories and hopefully new insights about the great players, coaches, and games from those years.

My first post is about the infamous Mel Gray "Catch"-figured I'd jump right in. Hope you enjoy the piece and my blog, which also includes stories about the Baltimore Colts and Ravens.

Hey Jim, thanks - I enjoyed that. I sort of dug Jim Hart back in the day. It was also nice having the Cards in the NFC East all those years, since they typically were the only team we could generally prevail over on a consistent basis. Funny you mention that not being able to define what constitutes a 'catch' is not a new phenomenon as we were just mentioning this last night on our site podcast. Keep up the good work and don't be a stranger - lot's of old timers like me here on BGO :)

Thanks for the nice welcome and comments. I'll definitely be around.

I enjoyed the read, slightly before my time but apparently the refs have always been against US!!!

On a side note I played golf with Jim Hart back in 2013, great dude, great conversations, and damn near a scratch golfer. It was interesting to hear him discuss current rules and salaries, he actually made all his major money off of a few steak houses he owned and eventually sold.

There was a time, long ago, when bizarro-world, eff-the-Skins/WFT plays were not the norm.

How that was concluded to be a catch is beyond my comprehension, ball was clearly out before his feet were even close to the ground
