but, a lot of players go to a new team and are amazing. Drew Brees comes to mind.

Is anyone really going to compare Haskins to Brees? Brees showed he could play qb in the NFL, the Chargers gave up on him thinking he couldn’t come back from the rotator cuff injury.

That's a fair question. But I think coaches and scouts also buy into 'conventional wisdom' that's usually based on measurables. 'He's too short', 'Doesn't possess NFL arm strength', 'His 40 time is terrible', those kinds of things are 'conventional wisdom'. It's probably right a lot of the time. But I do believe that far too much emphasis is placed on measureables these days and that there may have been some hidden gem QBs who, had they been given a reasonable chance and playing time, could've shown they had what it takes.

I get that great talents generally easily show their great talent, that great talent is often based on elite physical tools and a record of success. I'm talking more about guys who HAVE had a great deal of success but because they supposedly 'lack' elite physical tools, never get the chance at the NFL level to prove what they might be capable of? Meanwhile, guys with great measurables and huge 'NFL arms' (Haskins anyone) get every opportunity and prove not to be NFL QBs afterall.

5 teams either had him in camp or on a practice roster and chose not to keep him (including our current HC).

If he turns out great, that’s a lot of wrong. 😉

I will be pulling hard for him, he showed attributes yesterday that impressed me.
