What eye, though?

Do the eye test to look at the competition teams like OSU play in the Big Ten, compared to the eye test of teams UF and A&M have beaten all year in the SEC.

I used to hate listening to SEC fans talk about how great the conference is, but there is simply no denying the competition.

This is the same exact argument people who clamored for a playoff used to have, 4 teams is not enough. It should be 6 or 8, then make them play it out. Conference finals are not enough, because OSU rarely has a quality opponent.

I think they should go 8 games this year... I think they should do it permanently, but specifically this year because of the oddity of the season.

I get what you're saying about A & M and FLA, but it's still going to be hard to argue that 2 different conferences can send 2 teams each, because it's going to be almost IMPOSSIBLE to keep 2 ACC teams out of the mix. The delayed start of the BIG 10 season also hurt because it allowed teams to be in the top 25 that don't deserve to be there... they only got ranked because 1/3 of the actual FBS schools were playing. Beating 2 teams in the top 15 will go a long way for OSU when they beat Northwester on Saturday, especially if they do it handily.

Florida has only beaten 1 team in the top 15... they beat a fraudulent Georgia team that was ranked 9 at the time, who hasn't beaten a single ranked opponent.

Texas A & M has only beaten FLA... so they're not mowing down powerhouses if you take into account the above statement.

At this point, OSU beating Indiana is on the same level of 'argument' as A&M beating FLA.

so, you want to penalize them because of covid?

that doesn't seem right at all.

No...ST, it shouldn't. You know as well as I do, if Indiana were playing in the SEC, they would not be ranked 12th in the nation.

Hopefully Northwestern wins and all this will be moot and the pollsters will look stupid again.

Life ain't fair, my man. You know that. There should be no moving the goalposts because of extenuating circumstances when it comes to deciding a national champion when good teams are getting beaten by good teams, while some teams aren't even playing at all.

So you're not going to punish OSU for Covid, but you will punish more deserving teams who actually played a full schedule against better teams?

it is in this case though. That is why the Big 10 decided to take away the rule of games played so that the best team in that conference can play for the championship.

Its not their fault of covid, but it is the fault of other teams for not winning their conferences. Plain and simple. Want to win? Win.

Want to prove your the best, play against the best. That's what I always understood, you want to be the best, beat the best.

OSU doesn't play against the best. They play a weak conference that doesn't play defense and only had to play 6 games this year...against weak teams.

So when a playoff does come, they are at a decided advantage because of the wear the rest of the teams have had playing a full schedule.

But that's fair.

You can't respond to my post saying beating no. 12 Indiana ain't the same, implying that the SEC should get the benefit of the doubt because the conference is 'better... then argue against Mike saying basically "thems the breaks, it is what it is"

The teams can only play the teams in front of them... OSU is undefeated and beat the only ranked team they had the chance to play. They are clearly one of the best teams in the country and it's not even close. I would take them in a head to head matchup over anyone in the SEC not named Alabama. FLA looks legit but I don't know that they would be able to beat up on OSU's defense the way they beat up on the lower tiered teams in the SEC. A&M beat FLA but FLA is in the conference championship... get mad at the SEC, not NCAA for not letting A&M play against Bama for the title because they're both in the West.

We beat who they put in front of us. Not our concern who the NCAA lines us up to play or who pays to play us.

We will play the best once we are in the playoffs.

Your opinion is noted, but it is not anything anyone hasn't heard about every team year in and out in every sport. Everyone thinks their team is the best and others get s soft schedule. Oh well..

Sure I can...the ranking system and the structure of the season within conferences are different situations.

But ST...They hadn't played a game and came into a ranking system where other teams had played as many as 4 or 5 games, and the "pollsters" placed OSU at #5. What had they done to deserve that ranking?

Again, apples/oranges. There is a structure within the SEC...A&M could be playing in the Championship had they won against the #2 team in the nation on opening day. Thems the breaks.

OSU being ranked in the top 4 is subjective and the fact they have had it entirely too easy, should be considered when UF and A&M have played their asses off all year long, losing only to top 10 teams, not some over rated Hoosiers team who would lose 3 or 4 if playing in the SEC.

I will not look at OSU and look at A&M and say with any level of confidence that A&M could hang with them. FLA MIGHT have a chance in a shootout but I would still have to give the nod to OSU at this point..

Who has Clemson beat and why are they no. 1 ACC is trash outside of Clemson and Notre Dame, who beat them, and MAYBE Miami who's marquee victory is over NC State who was ranked 23rd at the time. Clemson's wins are no more daunting than OSU's...

And they will have played only 6 games when the others have all played 10 or more...but sure, let's make them a playoff team based on their performance.

We will play the best once we are in the playoffs.
The fact the pollsters put you there does not mean you belong there. But, when the time comes to play Bama, OSU will get destroyed again...because the Big Ten can't compete with the SEC.

I don't have a pony in this race, FSU is simply terrible. I am simply tired of pollsters getting it wrong...all the time. And I believe an 8 team playoff could remedy that.

Then OSU could enter and play teams like UF and A&M before getting a chance to play for a national championship, proving they deserve it.And teams like UF an d A&M aren't left on the outside looking in.

The fact that you don't think they belong there doesn't mean they don't belong there. OSU is there year after year and always a name mentioned when it comes to the best teams.

Again, subjective so we're faced with the prospect of more teams in the playoff format so that we're not having this argument. I don't think too many people would argue over the difference between #8 and #9 as we are #4 & #5

And...I believe that the Irish are over rated, too. Clemson? They have played for a National Championship how many times in the last 5 years? Beaten Bama and anyone the SEC threw out there, how many times? And well...they've won how many games this season?

As for A&M and OSU...A&M's defense is outstanding, one of the best in college football. OSU has not played a team with a notable defense. UF? As much as I hate to say it, they are the hottest team in college right now. I don't think OSU could hang with them either.

And when they get to the playoffs or championship in the recent past, they get destroyed by the teams that deserve to be there.

But sure...a 6 soft game schedule gives them the right to get back to a playoff against Bama who will destroy them again.

So? Your personal opinion on their performance or if they deserve to go is just that...your personal opinion. People say it about every team in every sport when they are good consistently year after year. Its ok to hate, but that is all it is.

I am not sure how being beaten by teams means they shouldn't go. They did what they needed to do. You just want someone else.

Mike, it's not just my opinion...there are plenty of pundits who think like I do...OSU should not be considered before UF and A&M, mostly UF because they have a bigger draw than A&M.

And some of them think UF should definitely get the nod over A&M at this point, even though A&M won the head to head.

When OSU gets destroyed in the playoffs again...I will be frustrated that the so-called experts got it wrong again. Over ranking a team because it's all about the money.

I mean, this all started with a post stating it's all about the money by giving OSU a shot at the Big Ten Championship with only 5 wins...you know, moving the goalpost.

I agree 100% that the format needs to change... 8 teams is about perfect.

I don't think the Irish are overrated though. I don't know that they hang with Bama but I believe they are in the conversation about one of the 4 best teams in the country. They need to hang with Clemson in the ACC Championship to solidify that, winning cements it.

Yes Clemson has made it to the National Championship 2 of the last 4 but OSU has been in the playoffs 2 of the last 4 as well... and last year they lost to Clemson in the Semifinals by 6.... they did not get blown out. OSU had a lead in 3 of the 4 quarters of that game.... Clemson scored with less than 2 min to take the lead and ultimately win, so it was not a blowout.

Pundits give opinions, too. Just because you agree with them doesn't turn it to gospel.

Ohio State is considered...and goes. year after year. That is the point.

This is all I got to say about today:

Well, UF is out of it...won't get a tear from me for that one! **** the Gaturds!

But the fact that LSU beat them just goes to show how difficult it is to consistently win in the SEC. Going into tonight they had 4 teams ranked in the top 10.

As for OSU, if you guys cannot see how ridiculous it is that OSU is considered for a playoff this year, I just don't know what to say. They have done nothing to earn it.

4 wins against terrible teams, one against an over rated Indiana team. Big Ten is horrible, winning in that conference proves nothing.

Can’t beat that Gator meat. 🤣
