Random Commanders Thoughts

So, if you were in charge, Jacoby would have never started his rookie year. Hmmm.

BTW, Dan Snyder should sell the team.

well...if oranges were apples...I'ld expect them to be priced the same!

Please, explain the difference.

4th round project should not start in Sept.
Undrafted project should? Because everyone obviously knew he'd go on to be a HOF worthy, Best Ever Redskin Tackle.

Oh, and did I mention, Dan Snyder hates winning.

There's no comparison. The informariton available today is far superior to anything back in 1981; two different athletes; two different histories; different coaches; different defenses; different collegiate systems; different NFL. Your argument is that because there is one case in which an unknown proved out that all cases should be treated this way? Wanna place a wager on the odds for the argument you are putting forward?!!!

Tell you what: you're looking at the tale/tail end of things. Find some analyses of Jacoby as a non-draftee from 1981 that can be used to decide if the two players are similar and therefore one can expect similar outcomes/careers.

As for the great yachtsman...don't get me started!

Just to be clear, I hope Charles proves a wise decision. More for prudential reasons than anything else. He was just one peice in a larger mosaic built to compare value received versus value unproven.

Thanks for the partial clarification. However, more is requested. Please, kind sir.

What's the new ratio of hits to misses today, in comparison to, well, whenever? Since they're soooo much better today?
Are you saying that Jacoby was the only undrafted/late round player ever to start his first year that turned out to be good/great? In ALL of the history of the NFL?
Or that it will never happen again?
Is it only, from now on, that anyone drafted in the 4th round, or later, or undrafted, should never start in Sept of their rookie year?
Are you truly rooting for the kid? Or is that just a CYA statement attached to your taking a weedeater to him 20 seconds after he was selected?
Which are the only rounds that a drafted player should be allowed to start, in Sept, of their rookie year?

Also, did you know that Dan Snyder sucks?

Nice try Ax-man! That's what I was challenging you to do!

I'ld still vote you for President tomorrow. You could appoint me as DNI lead and we would go to town!

I'm not rooting for the kid. I want to beat Dallas and win SBs. To do that Haskins needs to remain erect - so to speak. These are grown boys/men getting well paid to maul one another.

And yes, I do know. I won't pass through the obvious door you opened.

Bill Belichick has become known as a complete genius for selling a year too early instead of a year too late.

This team got BLASTED for letting Cousins walk without getting ANYTHING in return

Now we're critical that we let go of a guy who has made it clear he is not signing an extension here, because we didn't hold onto him and force him to play the final year of his contract, allowing him to walk into free agency after next season.... what am i missing?

David Andrews wasn’t drafted and was a rookie starter for the Patriots in the Super Bowl.

Jason Peters wasn’t drafted either and has had a better career than Trent Williams at LT.

I don’t buy into the draftnik argument in April that if you don’t take a player in Round 1 or 2 the team isn’t adequately addressing a need 😛

You look around the league at the better clubs and I don’t see top 10 picks at every key spot.

I know some of you don’t believe it but we will overcome the loss of the ‘great’ Trent Williams and move forward.

Bellichick almost never signed these guys to high end contracts. He built in contract buffers to cut his losses.

The other difference is obvious: when you are a perennial SB contender/winner the clear inference is you know what you are doing. When you haven't achieved anything remarkable since 1992...the benefit of the doubt tends to be alloted less often.

Ah yes my friend, we would be The Dream Team!

Sorry to hear that you're not rooting for our LT draftee. Seems a bit harsh. Do you hate them all, or just him?

On a side note, Darth Snyder is an irritating pipsqueak.

Will be interesting to see how many of the Cheaters moves do not pan out so well due to no longer having The Brady Filter in place.

And never forget, Dan Snyder is Lucifer.

Part of it is history.

No one knew at 0-5 in 1981 that Joe Gibbs would go on to be a HOF coach or that afterthought players like Jeff Bostic and Joe Jacoby would be legends in town.

No one thought Belichick was a genius at the HC level in Cleveland.

So, we really don’t know what is going to happen here.

Any premature calls to anoint Rivera or condemn him or the rookies he just drafted is just that, a premature exercise 😎

Drug use. There are others.
But I don't get what you're calling a double standard? We're giving a rookie a 2nd chance. Did we not give Trent a 2nd chance?

These kids smokin' ganja has never given me pause. That would make me a hypocrite. I used to pull chokes in my early 20's.

El...you know exactly what I mean!

We didn't give anyone chances. The team made business decisions!

As long as we understand this kid is not a Joe Gibbs character guy! I don't really care. There's nothing "traditional" or entertaiinng about the sport and the NFL anymore. It's about beating the crap outta the other teams, winning SBs, and making money hand over foot for the owners and almost the same for the players. Heck, there is even less identity these days. With the cap players come and go pretty quickly. It's transient. I can't even remember half the names many times. So, I resort to the abstractions: am I seeing good defense, good offense and good coaching. Are we beating the bastages? (especially if their fanbase is obnoxious = iggles) and are we winning SBs.

5th year on Allen was picked up. I was really worried the team didn't like him......lol

but, good to know we are keeping people here and drafting well enough now to pick up options when presented with them.

The thought didn't get through as intended. I'm not rootng for him personally. I want him him to do his job so Haskins can do his job. They're all paid a lotta money. So go out and do their jobs which is winning a SB. Then I get to party for a few nights, appropriate the moment as if it gave real meaning to my life and be happy because that's what it apparently takes. Well, not the last, but close for many of us.

When was the last time you visited your shrink? Are you a danger to the yachtsman and his family? I'm sensing the darkness in you young Anakin.

Players who produce stick, even if they do stretch the whole "character guy" bromide. Even under St. Gibbs.

See Dexter Manley. See Clinton Portis. Hell, see John Riggins.

Meh. If our 4th round LT can play, and stay out of jail, and not become a cancer, he'll be a steal and this move will look great in retrospect.

If he can't he'll be gone, some other guy will get a shot, and before long we'll forget him.

And John Riggings was?

I was going to provide more, but Om beat me to it.

John Riggins marched to a different drummer. He wasn't a druggy and he was a producer throughout his career from HS onward. Please, don't dare compare the Diesel to a nobody who hasn't played a down in the NFL.

Lighten Up Elly Baby!
