Random Commanders Thoughts

Dunbar still won’t shut up and move on despite the fact he is now where he said he wanted to be.

Darby is not the best CB in the NFL but played well for the Bills and Eagles and was a playmaker in 2017 when Philly won the SB.

Dunbar to me is really full of himself after reading that PFF recap on his 2019 season.

He is not Stephon Gilmore or Jalen Ramsey and guys off 3-13 teams usually don’t juice themselves this much.

But it was inevitable that on a poor team with poor coaching and a lackluster team president that several players were never going to be reconciled to a new regime that ran itself more like other NFL teams.

Trent Williams and Dunbar thought the way to get what they want was to threaten the organization. The weakness and dysfunction of the previous rregime lead them to believe that strategy would be successful.

Players don’t pull this crap in NE or KC or other places like GB or PITT.

And it was inevitable there would be players like Chris Thompson, Jordan Reed and Dunbar himself that actually liked Gruden and playing here in a laissez faire environment that suited them, ie their cumulative injuries were never an issue for the team and their retention over time.

On a contending team at his level Dunbar would have kept his public mouth shut and handled this internally and he would have been more patient to get a deal done.

He also would have been more grateful for the opportunity to transition from WR to CB here and find his niche in the NFL.

But bad organizations don’t get love letters from players.

Notice that Seattle has not yet negotiated an extension with Dunbar. Things will be done on Seattle time.

You took the opportunity to use Dunbar's shitty attitude as a way to slam the team again. Bravo!

Dunbar is running his mouth because that is what kids do this time of year when they have nothing else to do and are immature. Has nothing to do with the team.

Jalen Ramsey is a bum. Has always been burned and got himself kicked off the Jags after he pulled up in a bank truck.

this isnt on the Redskins or anything they did. Its on him and his mouth. That is it.

Right it’s on Dunbar.

But you don’t see players looking for new deals dumping on Belichick or Andy Reid in the media.

You don’t see much of this in GB or NO either.

Quality coaches and organizations are less vulnerable to these kinds of manipulations because players realize that approach won’t work.

Dunbar learned that with Rivera whose response was basically ‘honor your contract’.

Yes, you do.

Desean Jackson and LeSean McCoy - Andy Reid
Chad Johnson and Jamie Collins - Bellicheck

You are also cherry picking 2 coaches and acting like that is the norm, and because we dont live up to the standard of 2 super bowl contending organizations we are somehow a failure.

Dunbar acted like a child used to a lax attitude. Like any other child, he’s going to test his new daddy. Rivera smacked back.

Right and what was the team response? The same as Rivera’s. To trade or release the players.

The fact Bruce and Co. didn’t respond well to these types of situations especially with Trent are reflective of their lack of leadership.

There are no absolutes in life. Does NE or KC or GB EVER have players that demand new deals? Yes.

But it is rare for the players to be as negative in posts or their agents comments as some of the guys here.

DeSean Jackson left Washington to go to Tampa and did nothing but bash Washington after we gave him a LOT of money over the time he was here.

The Eagles let a lot of good players go but most of that was under Chip Kelly not Reid.

Some players in NE went public like Jamie Collins and Logan Mankins but Belichick sent them packing before they became real distractions.

And Collins crawled back to Belichick in 2018 after being cut by Cleveland and signed a team friendly deal to rebuild his career.

But most of these players like Jackson, Mankins, Collins, Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell from the respective teams were in the main pro bowlers and top performers at their positions.

They were not little fire pissers like Quinton Dunbar who is an all pro in the eyes of PFF.

so, you're mad at last years regime but still slamming the organization as a whole?

I gave you 2 examples of teams that let players go for talking trash which is what you asked for.

as far as we know, Trent didn't want to come back no matter what. Is that on Bruce? Yep. But, is Bruce here now? Nope. But, Trent is still trying to milk 20-25 mil from us or any team that wants to sign him. He is now responsible for his own well being.

if you want to bash the team, go for it. It is your thing. But, at least just be honest about it. Using Dunbar running his mouth on social media is not a legitimate excuse to bash this year's team.

We are a failure because we fail :) Hiring sub-par coaches and sub-par FO leaders = fail. I think we're already in better hands so hopefully, going forward, whether things work out with a player or not long-term, there will be more mutual respect and less playing out of things on social media.

that all happened last year and the years before. Dunbar is a joke. We all know it. As soon as he demanded a trade and then walked it back we knew he was. you can have all the geniuses around you in the world, but if you aren't one yourself you just do foolish things like that.

Mike... there is no such thing as 'the team'. There are staff who have come and gone. We worship the logo and the (successful) history. But it's the staff who have been brought in (and by association, our generally clueless and historically meddling owner) and who deserve criticism. I really don't get how the leaders who have been in decision-making position for the past 20 years of mostly 'suckitude' don't deserve criticism? The front office has mostly sucked. The coaches have mostly sucked. And a ton of our players have mostly sucked. 'The team' has sucked. We may differ as fans on where the blame should lie, but there's no denying 'the team' has been one of the worst in the NFL over the past 20+ years.

Everyone 'fans' differently. As far as Bulldog's post - I think he's acknowledging that the current regime isn't putting up with knuckleheads like Dunbar. How is that bashing this year's team? I think Bulldog is overstating his case. There are really solid teams and organizations like the Steelers and the Packers who have had players throw public tantrums and trash the organization on the way out. Some players are going to act out no matter how good the organization is. But I do believe that Allen was a shifty, dishonest GM and that Gruden ran Club Med which only encouraged dipshit players to act out.

My 2 cents.

There is only one way to change the narrative of this organization and the opinions of the fans, the media, and some of the players.

I am all for criticizing the people who deserve it. Ask anyone. I did it for the past 5 years with Gruden on any social media outlet that wouldn't remove it.

but, to find ANY reason to take a shot at the team is cheap. Dunbar ran his mouth because he is an idiot. Rivera and Del Rio have nothing to do with it. So to say "winning organizations dont have this problem" is not only false (they do) but it isnt valid since the people you are talking about arent even here.

everybody does root differently. i get it. i am just not sure why any little thing is a reason to just bash the team.

I've been as critical and negative as they get the last few years. Conversely I also am known to have been loyal to a fault leading up to finally breaking. That said I have a hard time disagreeing with anything Bulldog said here. He's spot on IMO. You can bring up a few outliers and exceptions to the rule with winning organizations/coaches but in general Bulldog is right, what is commonplace here when players leave is rare in places like NE and I don't see it as bashing. It's calling it like it is, no sugarcoating.

listening to Kyle Allen talk about Rivera...VERY refreshing to hear. he said there wasn't a dry eye in the house when he was fired.

I'd like to hear that Mike ... linkage?

I'm socially distancing from my own homework apparently.
