Random Commanders Thoughts

Agree, Callahan stepped up smack dab in the middle of a pure shite season and got results. Penalties lowered, better discipline, good half time adjustments...the players for the most part gave a darn.

Huge what if here.....but what if
Eric Schaffer steps up to GM duties
Callahan stays as HC
O`Connel is the OC

Ron Rivera`s imminent hire is to coach the defense

I think this would be a fantastic plan as the offense continues to gel, Bruce is shown the GM door, Schaffer`s rewarded for his loyalty, Manusky`s gone and were back to a real coach in a 4-3 defense. Yes please!

Edit: I`m considering a Callahan ran offseason with Haskins getting true #1 reps for the duration. A MUCH tougher mindset from the get go but this time on both sides of the ball.

Callahan managed a couple of more wins. Big deal. He's unimaginative and has zero chance at the HC gig. Kudos to him for stepping in and keeping the team more or less together for the rest of the season. He deserves praise for that. But he isn't the next HC. The next HC should and will pick their own staff. I don't know outside of DC that anyone is wowed by KOC - short of that, unlikely a new HC would retain someone from the current staff. Callahan might have a chance to get retained as the OL coach (although I'm not sure he's been as impressive in that regard as Skins fans make out). Ike Hilliard has done a very good job with the young WRs. I think he could *possibly* survive. But I'd expect a major house cleaning, which is what probably should happen.

Wonder if they'll have 10,000 at FedEx today in this miserable weather?

That would be a miracle and make Dan think twice about canning Allen, since they're playing the game in Dallas.

I'm totally giving Bill Callahan the benefit of the doubt here. He inherited Jay's abomination of a work ethic imprinted on a team directed by Bruce. Reports over the summer and even now how soft Jay ran training camp and practices, and we all witnessed how soft they played. Callahan was promoted into the role and charged with correcting years of the BruJay effect. That's a tall order for any coach.

With O'Connell getting valuable experience in creating gameplans as well as tutoring Haskins on the fly, I'd say he's done pretty well considering. A whole offseason to evaluate what works and what doesn't and Bill no longer has to linger over O'Connell's shoulder, freeing both of them up to concentrate on their respective areas. KO's tutelage of Haskins was apparently working over the last few weeks before the injury as well.

This scenario would make the changes we desperately need without the upheaval of a scorched earth approach. It's the easiest transition on face value. Now if Dan decides to go outside the building for a new GM then I agree, we may as well sanitize the house with holy fire. I just don't want to completely clean the cupboards & start from scratch when all we need is throw away a couple spoiled nasty/smelly onions.

Edit: Onions are the Devil's testicle, nasty unholy "vegetable"

I could live with that, at least to get things further stabilized. But we need to relieve DS of the head scouting duties and we need to get the training staff straightened out as well

Yeah the team is way past due on the training staff upgrade. I believe at least a portion of it was Jay's soft training camp and practice habits. You'd think the league and or NFLPA would be freely willing to assist in an investigation of this type. I would be too until Mara pipes up and wants to dock us draft picks and cap space for a faulty staff or whatever the reasoning is.

So Miami won and Detroit lost which means if we win today we're picking 3rd, we lose and we're picking 2nd. Either way I believe that we need to hope there's a bidding war between another team and Miami for our spot so we can trade down like a muhfuh

See, that's how little I keep up with them anymore. So, I'll restate, if the game were at FedEx. would there be 10,000 people there?

In less than 24 hours we're probably going to know how blind Dan Snyder is, or if we stand a chance of having an owner who has seen the light.

A month ago, my inclination was that Snyder might turn the page this off-season...as we approach the moment of truth, I think he is just going to rebrand this shitstorm and sell it as a different product.

Man I hope your first inclination is the correct one E. I'm so close to giving up for good, but a little shakeup that includes the purging of Allen would go a long way towards tempting me back. I'm sure there are many like me.

The one common factor in this mess has always been Dan Snyder, so I'm inclined to believe the latter

I do apologize for the aggressiveness of my replies of late. But I may still perform an act of redemption.

You don't have to apologize to any of us. You've put up with a lot of crap from us over the years and always with more grace than we deserve. In this frustrating season with you making the difficult decision to shut down the site, we all understand. And that's not even factoring in anything else that could be going on, just what we know here. So it's all good.

Thanks Kel - I appreciate that. I'm just worn out as we all are from the frustrations of our special fandom. But still ought to be nicer :)

We are all excited to experience the announcement of draft selections IN REAL TIME TOGETHER. If you feel the need to be the first to 'blurt out' the team's picks you are better off staying out of chat and sticking to Twitter. Please refrain from announcing/discussing our picks until the official announcement has been made at the podium. Thanks!
