Burner's Burning Questions: Grades, Predictions, Evals, Questions, 2019 Season

We could have gotten the Patriots #1 pick and a player for Williams in September when Isiah Wynn got hurt and went on IR.

Now after having to deal for Sanu NE isn't going to offer as much and if the Browns are now only offering a #2 pick then we lost the battle -again.

We should be sitting here with a player we drafted in 2018 in Round 1 as compensation for a trade of Kirk Cousins in 2017.

But Bruce the Great ‘knew' we were going to be able to resign Kirk and we got a lousy comp pick instead at the end of the third round.

I've been in business for 30 years - these guys don't know the first thing about timing and the ‘art' of getting deals done.

Says who, your favorite rumor?

Patriots denied the assertion.

What do you know that they don't?

This is correct. Pats were never involved in trade talks with the Redskins.

ok so he is under contract for 2 more seasons? then it might have been a good thing to make him come back. if he is a free agent this upcoming off season and we get no opp to trade him? then its terrible

Now? Since his return to the team, he will be under contract for only 1 more season at the conclusion of the 2019 season. So going into this off-season, he'll be on his last year of the current contract. Less valuable in a trade.

Keim reported that he heard from people that trading Pothead would involve a new contract whether he had 1, or 2 years left on his contract. Meaning, it doesn't matter.

Not if he refuses to play - which I think is likely.

Wait! You mean he heard something with no verifiable proof and you're taking his word for it because he knows more than anyone else?

We'll see how it plays out, but at this point he could just cry wolf, "Ouch! My toenail needs cut, I can't play!"

Naw, just posting a nugget from someone closer to the situation than you or I. Nobody knows what will happen, until it does.

As for playing, I'd find anyway I could to IR his fat ass. But even if I couldn't, he'd be held out of practice, and inactive for the rest of the season.

Trent won't see the field IMO.

It's not in his interest to do so and the last thing the Redskins want is to see Trent out of game shape go out there and suffer an injury that completely takes out his value.

We are dealing with the petty, small minded man, Bruce Allen. He came out attacking Jay just last week. You think he is going to just sit idly by and give Trent a paycheck?

Well, if Pothead Crybaby refuses to play, like rumors said he would, he would likely be in breech of contract, and still wouldn't get paid, or credit, for this season.

I wish they could make him scrub toilets for the rest of the season.

I'll say this though, if he fesses up to fabricating the whole medical staff BS, apologizes publicly to the FO, medical staff, teammates, and fans......agrees to play out the rest of his current contract, and gives the team a hometown discount on any extension in 2 yrs, should WE desire to, then I'd take keeping him around under advisement.

"@CharlesRobinson on Yahoo! Sports NFL Podcast “The Cleveland #Browns are furious w/ the Washington Redskins over Trent Williams.” Says 6 wks ago, Redskins could've had 1st rd pk for Williams from CLE. WASH waited 6 wks, CLE basically said “kiss my ass, you're not calling me now”

Ya think it's possible Goodell has unofficially told Dan to not trade Trent so the league/owners can set a precedence over the inmates running the asylum? Basically a cornerstone for the CBA talks in which a player can no longer hold a team hostage by bullshitting a year away then report by week 10 & get paid for the season.

The FO has screwed this up royally without a doubt, but anyone who claims that TW should get a salary after what he did is eating steak with ketchup type of wrong.

I just want to believe it's more than Bruce being boss level inept in handling this without at least some private backing by the league.

Redskins could have made a deal with Houston to trade Williams.

The Tunsil/Stills trade only came up later on.

Don't believe the denials from the Redskins, other teams did call on TW since August before the season started.

Bruce seemed more interested in taking a paycheck away from Trent rather than seeing the matter resolved.

Look, Bruce was willing to take on all kinds of negative press for signing Reuben Foster including criticism from around the league so don't believe it was any positive stance for true principle.

This was ego plain and simple.

Oh I dislike Bruce with a passion at the moment and hope beyond hope that Dan is asking permission from other team GM's to interview potential replacements so this tom****ery NEVER gets repeated again by the maroon and black.

However, unless you're a CEO type, there isn't a company in the world that would allow an employee to sit out half a season and still get paid by showing up at the halfway point. Not honoring the contract he signed with his agent's oversight should never be rewarded for such antics. I would trust TW's word again as soon as Bruce wins GM of the year.

That summonabitch cannot be relieved of duty fast enough, and will take many of our problems out the door with him once he is.

Belichick shows the road map - get rid of distractions and move on.

The example is there but Allen is just like Mike Brown, an idiot that is in the game because of his father's name not demonstrated ability.

Cooke hired Beathard, Snyder hired Bruce.

This is at the heart of the problem.

Remember Beathard didn't come alone. He brought experienced scouts that had found pro bowlers with the Dolphins in the 1970's.
