Random Commanders Thoughts

Those of you who think the Skins and Dolphins are battling for the 1st pick in the draft, you might want to watch a Cincinnati Bengals game.

Gruden is an abject lesson in re nepotism.

The next coach should be a self-starter and not someone who gained a platform solely because he was a famous coach's son or brother.

Belichick's son is the safeties coach in NE but sure hope we don't bring him here on that basis as a DC, etc.

The two worst teams in the NFL are facing each other this Sunday.

Hopefully, Haskins starts.

I just bought two lower-level seats on the 45 for $60 each. Lol.

I'll tell Bruce y'all said hi.
You over paid those

Bums were handing out tickets this afternoon in Miami and were complaining because they couldn't get enough to buy some thunderbird 🙈🙈🙈

For some reason Haslett convinced this team brass that the 3-4 was essential and despite his being fired it has remained unchallenged here.

Belichick has used both the 3-4 and 4-3 to win Super Bowls.

When Wilfork left so did the 3-4.

We have to change to suit personnel or will stay ranked #30 on defense.

their base is still the 3/4 defense I don't know the percentage they run out of it but I imagine it's low. Just like the redskins run out of the base about 18 percent of the time. It doesn't matter what defense you use if you can't stop a team then you need better players.

But in that base alignment we get gashed in the run game.

And our rush is based on OLB pressure.

We don't develop 4-3 type ends who can rush with their hand in the dirt and stand up against the run.

We have mix and match.

Kerrigan is a natural 4-3 DE not OLB.

Both Payne and Allen are 4-3 DTs.

We really don't have a point of attack nose guard after 9 years of trying.

Right now in Allen, Payne and Ioannidis I see 3 guys that are 4-3 DTs in the ball game.

Ioannidis would be much more disruptive as a traditional DT rather than a DE on the outside of the 3-4.

Teams like Pittsburgh and Baltimore commit to the 3-4, and draft guys like Ngata and Suggs over the years to fit that scheme.

The Redskins DL but especially the linebackers look lost in what we run.

We draft Anderson to play OLB and rush the pssser but to me his size and profile as a solid tackler project him to a MLB or ILB position on most clubs.

Funny we never try him inside but have given up on him on the outside (?).

Portis and Mitchell both said Montez Sweat is lost and hasn't gotten a lick of coaching. It shows.

But is Sweat really a OLB or is he a guy that gains 10 pounds and rushes as a DE in the 4-3 as Charles Mann did?

Mann also came into the NFL as a 6'6 245 pound defender with excellent quickness. But he wasn't an OLB.

After that presser, I've come to the conclusion that Bruce Allen is insane. Completely detached from reality. He still thinks this roster can do something.

We might get three wins now instead of two because of the spark of a new coach, but when Allen stayed after Gruden was shown the door and didn't embrace a fire sale, but rather continues with the delusion that this roster is worth a shit, that told me we're screwed.

He reminds me of that character "Wormtongue" in Lord of the Rings. Keeps the king in a spell and tells him what he wants to hear.

I know the rest of the NFC East liked what they heard.

We weren't going to win 4 games with Gruden. This team was losing by greater margins each week and the Giants weren't NE or KC.

Taylor has that same look as Gruden.

‘How in the hell did I get here?' 😱😱😱

This solves very little! What has this team done? Surrender nearly 30 pts every game. Gee.....who does that point to? Narry a word about our learning impaired DC. Get rid of this mediocrity NOW!!!!!

Then get rid of the number one rectal oriface: Bruce.

This FO is just so, so, so bad. It's all on you Dan.

Fans...do not show up for any games until this team starts winning consistently.

Dan still thinks Bruce is a GM.

This guy is more stubborn than a bull elephant.

Donald Penn asked Brady for his jersey but AP beat him to it so Tom had to promise to mail him one.

Meanwhile, Josh Norman did a very nice job cleaning Brady's knee brace when he tried to slide.

No wonder Josh Gordon said he felt like this was a home game for the Pats.

Belichick at his press conference noted how many Pats fans were there saying ‘oh my gosh there were so many'.

There you go.

FedEx Field is the new Motel 6 and the Redskins players are there to make your stay a pleasant one.

Josh Norman cleaning Brady's knee brace was beyond embarrassing.

No, he's insane. I can't believe the stupidity between these two statements “we actually have a damn good culture” and “fans wanted to make some money on the secondary market.” Jesus

I know we usually remain above this sort of thing, but Ben Watson was released by the Patriots...we just signed a no name.

Pretty...appropriately....harsh on Allen

Quote from the article though below....did I miss something? I thought Gruden was a lame duck. Or is he just wrong?

And here's another thing about the “lazy” coach who betrayed the organization: Allen was the one who signed Gruden to a guaranteed two-year extension in 2017 when the franchise's conflict with McCloughan was dominating the news. Gruden, who was three years into his tenure and coming off back-to-back winning seasons, still had two years left on his original deal.

Edit: Just saw this in an ESPN article. I guess he wasn't a lame duck.

Gruden, who spoke by phone Monday evening after landing in Florida, said he's not sure what his future holds. He'll likely sit out the rest of the season, knowing the Redskins owe him money through the 2020 season. He was getting paid $5 million per year.

Is it okay for a part of me to want the Redskins to lose on Sunday?

I mean, the writing has been on the wall for several weeks now that Gruden was going to get canned in-season.

It's appears all much too convenient to me that Dan and Bruce would decide to let him go prior to the Dolphins game. The Miami game is the best chance we likely have of winning all season. If we walk out on Sunday and win, Dan and Bruce get the luxury of saying, "I told you so! It was all Jay's fault!"

On the other hand, we lose, and they make themselves out to be even bigger turds than they already are. A loss to the Dolphins would be the perfect egg in the face moment for Dan and Bruce. I kind of want that, solely based on my angst towards the two of those clowns.
