Asked about cutting Samaje Perine today, Gruden commented "It's a shame, you win some and you lose some.'
Obviously there's a normal and natural tension amongst the coaches as to who they keep and who they cut. But something about his tone there makes me think he wanted to keep Perine and was overruled. Same may also have been true for Doctson. Doesn't really matter, but for those who squawk about Gruden not having 'full control' - could be that we're fortunate that may be the case.

Last night I was trying to think about a time when the Redskins had this much talent and depth at running back. Guice, Peterson, Thompson, Smallwood - and Love waiting for his turn. Then it hit me - this could be the best group in my lifetime.
Hoping they all stay healthy and Love can be activated soon.

If Reed goes down...
When I was researching for FF I noticed Reed had good production in the games he was available, and I would have considered drafting him before his concussion. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if he came back and pulled a hammy after sitting out. I know you said "concussion aside" but I don't think that's something you can put aside. After seven concussions a stiff breeze could put him down. So at this point I would say the TE position is at best the same as last year, quite possibly worse (Sprinkle is a year better, Davis is a year older).
You must be very young.

I can think of times where we've had great #1's, and even good #2's but going past that... Without researching I can't think of any... feel free to set me straight.
We've had plenty of good RB's over the years, but if Guice returns and is what we hope, and if Thompson show anywhere close to the form he had pre-injury then we are legitimately 3 deep at least. Smallwood and Love are the cherry on top.
That said... it's 'potential' rather than definite. We'll find out soon if it's legit.

Gruden should not have final control of the roster.
The way I grew up the GM picked the players and the coaches determined who played and when once the season starts.
Only proven coaches with rings get the kind of organizational clout to checkmate the front office.

Former Redskin. Did not hear of a signing. He could still salvage his career, but time is running out.
