A productive player at a position of inexperience or need plus a draft pick works for me.
Trent Williams at 31 and with little to no guaranteed money left on his deal is at the point where Bill Belichick usually sells high on a player who is staring down at the descent from the mountain.
Belichick traded Richard Seymour and let Nate Solder and Aqib Talib, Ty Law go in free agency realizing they were 30 or over and likely to be on the downside of their careers just as their salary demands increased.
He also traded younger players like Jamie Collins that were solid but were asking for too much money.
If you notice, Collins crawled back to New England in 2019 at age 29 after the Browns acquired him in 2017.
