He had 12 sacks in 2 years. Think they felt that was a lot of money for that level of production. We may grab an edge rusher if one of the top guys falls to us at 15.

So the Bills are going with Spencer Long at OG and Nsekhe at RT.
That should last 2-3 games before they both get hurt.

I was glad to see Washington did not resign them.
We have seen enough in 4 years to know neither player is an impact performer.

No one's mentioning it, but that idiotically high contract for 33 yr old Alex is really biting this team in the rear. I like the Collins signing though at the high end - he's young. Keenum signing is smart but strictly short-term.

Getting Alex Smith for a decent contract was a great move. No one can predict a career ending injury. No one. It's a chance that teams take. If Landon Collins goes down with a career ending injury after a few games this year, that is unfortunate. And trading for a franchise quarterback while giving up a third rounder plus a nickel back is a pretty brilliant move.
The details of the Landon Collins contract is structured in a team friendly manner. Each year, the Skins can convert salary to a signing bonus and lower the cap considerably. Most of that money goes to the sixth year or additional years can be added and the cap hit lowers each season. In the final year, the Skins can cut ties with little or no cap hit. It is a brilliant contract from Eric Schaeffer.
Bulldog, who would you prefer? Landon Collins or D.J. Swearinger? One player always desired to be here - strongly wanted to be here. The other signed where he could get the best deal and proceeded to go Antonio Brown on the coaches. Think about it.
Alex Smith had this team at 6-3 and likely wins against the Texans to go 7-3. Probably wins that close game against the Pokes on Thanksgiving a few days later. But 8-3 at that juncture still equals a bad contract? It's more like bad luck. Bad luck happened, but the front office is mitigating it quite well thus far. If Rosen is added, then it is mitigated in an impressive fashion. So what's the problem here? Don't give me armchair analysis. Give me real analysis and honest debate, not lazy one liners.
You need to rethink Rosen and spend an off-season looking at his tapes. Read the scouting reports. That takes time, by the way. And now he has some experience in the league. Did you see the Cardinals last year? Impressive coaching staff, eh? That is what Rosen dealt with last season, but still did well at times.
Right now, Rosen is better than any of the prospects in the draft this year. No guarantees of course, but some of them could have a good future. This quarterback class could also be comparable to the 2010 and 2011 classes - yeah, that is not good.

It became obvious as the season moved on that what we ended up with was a very likable guy who was way over-paid, especially at his age, for basically one very good season in KC. The Skns had screwed up the QB position for years, totally mishandling the Cousins situation, and panicked into the Smith signing - which Coach Reid gladly walked the team into...again. So, here we are, strapped by past decisions - again.
