Watching Alex Mack protect the interior of the Falcons OL with Chris Friggin Chester next to him blows my mind! Atlanta could well win the SB and if they do the 2 worst OL on our team 2 years ago will win Super Bowls in consecutive years with another team.

I believe that this organization as a whole is not built to win on the field. Sure, Danny will make them profitable franchise, but I am now convinced we will never be a winning franchise as long as Snyder owns the team...which is likely my lifetime.


Edit: I also think, watching this Falcons team, if Shanahan had not been strapped with RG3 and been smart enough to bring Wade Phillips in his 2nd year, we'd be looking at a much different organization with Kyle prpeared to take over.

Don't know how you can say that when the GM has had only two freakin drafts to build a roster that was constantly stripped bare for 20 years.
 
Good grief. We have our OC scalped for running an Offense that is designed and installed by our HC, and we got rid of a liability DC and the sky is falling. We've had better QB play, and more wins than anytime in recent memory. Coaches have to learn and grow their skills just like players. You want to see coordinators avoid this team, keep blowing through HC's at brake neck speed. Anyone wanting to just blow it up and start over is gluten for punishment . This team is vastly improved over 2 years ago. Why don't we actually build on that success for a change.

We just ended a season where we regressed, had to fire a terrible DC who was brought in under the supervision of the GM mentioned, we are talent bereft at critical positions and our HC does not seem capable of getting passed simply being able to assemble a good offense.

I went into last off-season knowing we weren't there, but excited about watching us get better. We did not get better, we got worse.

Watching how the Cousins deal transpires, hiring of a defensive coordinator, and the acquisition of new talent over the next few months will dictate the direction of the team. It simply feels we're going into this off-season with a whole new rebuild instead of keeping Gruden, signing Cousins to a huge contract and rebuilding a terrible defense.

So Cavanaugh is now the OC, meh could be worse. Could be time to just thunderdome the D.C. Between Oliveiodatti & Mandusky. Never know the promoting from within would may be the best choice after all.

I'm not sure that we took a step back. The schedule seemed more difficult and Dallas won the equivalent of the NFL lottery. We missed major opportunities against Detroit and Cincinnati but also were lucky we caught Green Bay at the lowest point of their season. The final two games of the season seemed to show that we are not ready for the bright lights of important, pressure packed games, either by the players or the coaches, and that definitely needs to change.
 
It's not official - being reported by several media outlets (La Canfora, Tandler, CSN...). No word from the team.
 
Probably will be Cavanaugh, but curious that the team would not just go ahead and announce it if it's a fact. Makes me think it's not a done deal and that perhaps they are still in the mix for someone else. I also have to wonder how that would sit with Callahan? In a lot of ways, going outside for a new OC avoids a lot of issues. Sure, it helps on the continuity front, but it's problematic on others.

I always take La Canfora 'news' with a healthy dose of skepticism.
 
Starting to wonder if maybe the smart play at seasons end wouldn't have been to go ahead and get a long-term deal done with Cousins and extend Gruden. Uncertainty at those two spots might be a big factor in attracting a truly capable DC/OC?

We certainly did get worse, half game record difference not withstanding. Last year down the stretch we took care of business to win the division, this year we lost 3 critical games that eliminated us from contention when we needed to win to get in. We win we're in...last year we did it, this year we could not, there was clear regression with our ability to get it done like the previous season.



As far as the schedule goes, it wasn't that big a difference, i.e, the Panthers were NFC Champs a season prior, on paper a tough game. We should have beaten them.

we overachieved last season nothing to indicate we would win the division coming off a 4 win season. We didn't regress we are right where we are supposed to be maybe a little ahead of schedule. There was games we should have lost but won early in the season.

1 thing to keep in mind: if you're a wanted DC do you go to team w/coach in 4th yr who might end up on hot seat or w/1st yr. job security.
 
While watching the Texans/Cheaters game, early on, my wife said, "Man, if we had the Texans defense, with our offense, we could win the next 3 Super Bowls!"

To which I replied, "True. But if we had their offense, with our defense, we wouldn't win a game for longer than that!"
 
Redskins gonna try to bring in Brian Callahan as QB coach currently the same position in Detroit so they would have to give us permission
