Random Commanders Thoughts

Aren't we #1 in the league, or close to it, for the fewest 3 & Outs ?
We could not have accomplished that feat, if there was a serious flaw with our run/pass ratio.
Passing this much is working ; for the offense. But the offense can't be counted on alone, to singlehandedly win all their games. So again, the defense is a heavier liability in the games that we lose, than our choices of run/pass.

Agreed.

The stats are pretty emphatic.

My reasoning is less with the yards we gain and more with the 'let's not be predictable' line of thought.

Even if we're not getting huge yards, if we're balanced at least the Defense doesn't know what's coming. Too many games this year we've been utterly one dimensional and it usually corresponds to us getting beat.

Now there's an argument to be has on playing from behind etc but on the whole when we get pass happy we know we're beaten.

I thought the coaching last night was on point. Even when we couldn't quite pull off the move I liked the call. Like the deep shot on the 3rd and 2 I think it was. Beautifully set up with the run.

It's frustrating sometimes when you see what this team is capable of lol
I'd hope next year they can be this team more consistently

thats just a by product of moving the chains to me it doesn't matter if it's 1 rush or or 2 rushes or 3 rushes
just the same with passing I don't care if it's 1 pass or 3

most of the time the defenses know it comes down to execution like in the NFC championship game when riggens ran the same play 6 times the Russ Grimm I think it was told the defender 6 times what play was coming and 6 times it gained huge yards

He didn't just tell any player, he told Randy White where it was going...he knew as a 2nd year player he could destroy the veteran all-star DE, White and he did.
 
We play the Afc west and NFC west next season plus looks like Minnesota and most likely NO but that could change in the right circumstances.

They also did it in Super Bowl 17. They would tell Dolphins DL what was being run and told them to stop us.
 
Only teams that can win the second spot are Detroit Atlanta and Seattle. Detroit has to win and both teams have to lose
GB can't win the second spot. Atlanta can with a win or Seattle can with a win and Atlanta loss
 
I did see a rumor that Joe is gone no matter how deep the redskins go. Supposedly they want Gus Bradley
 
Me too. I don't think NY should be so quick to can the guy after 1 season. But I'd take him in a heartbeat.
 
It's Bowles 2nd year. 10-6 in year 1 but this season they have imploded.

Was thinking about this this morning and was wondering what everybody else thought about it.

How big of an influence do you think Sunday's game plays in Kirk's contract situation?

Has he done more than enough to earn the payday already to this point in the eyes of management, or does he need a big performance in what is essentially a playoff game on Sunday vs. the Giants to fully convince them?

After all, a failure on Sunday would put him 0-2 in arguably to the two biggest games of his career to this point (vs. GB in the playoffs last year and a Giants game that is a playoff decider).
 
For me it doesn't matter a great deal. He's essentially a year 2 QB, his stats have either been pretty static to last year or improved.

In a league where everyone is hunting their next Franchise QB not signing him is the difference between us and the Jets.

Staying relevant every year or disappearing into years of futility. And for me, even if there are a couple of missteps and stumbles he's still a QB trending in the right direction.

I do think a failure gives the team a little leverage on price though.

When he starts looking like he's regressing... that's when I'll worry. For now I'd lock him up and start worrying about the other side of the ball. Otherwise we just blow two years of progress and end up back at square one.

I think it most definitely will play a roll. Right or wrong, if he shits the bed in another big game, it will be brought up in negotiations. Especially if NY rests some starters.

But, making the playoffs, if we do, and performing well Sunday, and into the playoffs, then Kirk will hold most of the cards.

I do think Todd has a good chance of getting canned but how long would he be here for verses Bradley while both only had 2-3 years as DC I think Bradley won't get hired for awhile. Unless this defense magically transforms itself into a number 1 defense over night.
