Tell your boy Jay that running the football still matters in this league whether he likes it or not.

If we could get some kind of commitment there, everything else on offense would come alot easier.
 
Well the words straight from McVay this week...

offensive coordinator Sean McVay admitted this week that they need to stay committed to the running game.

“Looking back at Arizona with some of the plays that Rob Kelley was able to make, I definitely feel like I could’ve been more patient on some of those early down and distances where you get a little bit pass-heavy,” McVay said. “And that’s something that as a decision-maker and as a coordinator, I have to do a better job for players being able to keep that balance when you do a good job running the football. He had a couple plus-10-yard runs and then we ended up going three passes and out. And those are situations where I have to look at myself critically and make sure that I’m aware of that and we do a better job, and most importantly, I do a better job for our offense moving forward.”

Let's see if he follows up on the words...

I'm all in favor of McVay handing over the headset in the RZ. If I see another fade route to anyone shorter than 6'2" I'm going to snap.
 
BPA sure worked for the Wizards who under John Nash took Rasheed Wallace after already taking Juwan Howard and trading for Chris Webber.

The team ended up with 3 or 4 power forwards and no backcourt.

With the Redskins I would venture to say that this defense could have used a Landon Collins or Jarran Reed as much or more than the players that we drafted.

Besides, look at Brandon Scherff.

I love the guy and think he is a fixture here for 10 years.

But taken with the #5 overall pick?

To transition from OT to OG?

You can't tell me most GMs had him as the BPA up that high.

He exhibited some intangibles and strength Scot thought we needed on the OL.

And he was right.

But now we need the same thing on defense.

So, if our pick comes up and a left tackle is available in the mix with a quality DT or DE I hope we go for need rather than stacking talent and hoping Ziggy Hood and Kedric Golston are realistic answers at the position for 16 games.
 
With an asshole like Trent Williams one test away from a year suspension, I'd hope they take the left tackle.

Gruden and McVay remind me of Jason Garrett saying this every couple weeks back when Romo used to be allowed to blow games for them after they refused to run the ball. Then they'd do the exact same thing a couple week later and we'd laugh our asses off how they blew another 4th quarter lead.
 
Tandler's blog included a video of Reed catching a fade into left corner end zone, it was perfect. :paranoid:

'It's just practice'... left hash at about the five yard line, one on one stuff......defender allows clean release.... or maybe Reed just juked the crap outta him, don't know.....perfect ball.. back shoulder high, Reed jumps, makes it look easy, two full steps down not close to out of bounds.

Silky smooth, time to make it work 'real time'

Eagles say G Brandon Brooks began suffering from an illness earlier today and will be inactive for today's game.

LT - Month away from being 35
LG - Backup on 1-year deal
C - Inconsistent
RG - 3rd string rookie
RT - Starting LG
 
That's true and I hope we take advantage.

But, as surprising as it is to say it, Trent Murphy is this team's most consistent pass rusher.

After 2 years of struggling to be a playmaker, Murphy changed his workout routine in the offseason and worked on balance, fitness and working low with leverage.

It seems to have worked.

Meanwhile, Preston Smith is really frustrating the hell out of me. His measurables are off the charts. The coaches keep talking about him being 'close' to emerging.

But we just keep waiting for that moment to arrive.

I agree about running the ball today.

But there is nothing wrong with hitting DeSean Jackson downfield for a TD or Jordan Reed on a seam route to open things up for the running game either :)
 
I think today's the day our post-season hopes end.
