with the ball on the 1-yard line and Washington down 7–3 against Arizona, his coaches presumably wanted to make things easy on their franchise-tagged signal-caller. Coming out of the two-minute warning, they could dial up whatever they wanted: a slant, a handoff to Fat Rob, a quarterback sneak, a revival of Dadaism with a Tebowian jump pass? Instead, they went with a fade to DeSean Jackson, who is 5-foot-10 and was paired up against Patrick Peterson, who is 6-foot-1.

Let me start of by saying I haven't been this pissed after a game in a long time. The effort by coaches and players share the blame.

At end of first half we played a soft zone and Cardinals started to move the ball. We finally sent pressure to stop their drive. At end of game the Cardinals were sending the house and had our offense out of sync. Different philosophies with different results. Barry loves soft zone and prevent.

For past couple weeks I knew the offense would have a bad day at some point. I just didn't expect the defense to be even worse. You can't allow teams to convert 3rd and long all the time. I feel much of this is due to scheme by not putting players in right positions to make plays.

Some beat writers defend Barry, why I don't know. He just doesn't instill confidence in me with his calls and schemes. Something about a guy that previous DC job was 0-16 doesn't give you a good feeling.

McVay...I don't know what was up with him yesterday. Who is really calling the plays? I've hear Callahan has input along with McVay and Gruden. Who calls a fade to probably our shortest WR? Teams have to know we are running at least one fade in red zone each time. Someone needs to look at our tendencies in the red zone. I would be willing to bet it would open some eyes.

It's time to shake up the coaching staff as much as the need for defensive players.

Hopefully with Gruden pulling a Gibbs, except Gruden did at end of game, the team will respond and he will grow as a coach.

Getting this off my chest didn't help. Damn I'm still pissed, especially since we helped the Cowboys with out loss.

Knight, I like the Ringer-land (Grant-ger?) myself, and yes, I saw that article - good stuffs.

Riggins, the fade was atrocious. I screamed at the TV in the bar I was sitting in as it was happening and continue to be dumbfounded at it. That one play was just... awful. I'm not sure why we struggle so effing much in the red zone, but as Henry pointed out, the series where we went from having the ball on the 1 to kicking a FG was just embarassing.

There are a lot of excuses, many of them legit, that can be made. But the bottom line is that our red zone woes continue to affect us, and our D is embarassing.

Unless we run the table AND win a game or more in the playoffs, I suspect we'll see a few different faces on the coaching staff next season.

Gruden went 4-12 as a rookie head coach taking over a 3-13 historic dumpster fire.

Del Rio, while not a rookie, took over an equally burning dumpster fire coming off of 4-12, 4-12, and 3-13 seasons, to a 7-9 record.

Then went 9-7 in year two.

Del Rio, in his 2nd year, stands at 10-2, fighting for a division crown.

Is currently 6-5-1 in year three.

And currently out of the playoffs. And out of control of their own destiny.

15-12-1 over the last two of those three years puts things in a slightly different light, doesn't it? Particularly given he's put together in that time an offense on its way to being among the best in the league?

I guess? Except that his offense is still so fragile that any one missing skill player knocks them back into the "average" territory. And, a glaring problem from day one, little more than lip service to the run game. He's been saying every week since his first game that we need to run more. But all he's doing is flapping his lips. Regardless of who's to blame, Gruden, McVay, Callahan, or all of the above, they still call plays that remind me of the bingo caller. And I know it's hard to read what's in someone's mind, but for the love of Allah, he has an "I have no ****ing idea what to do" look about him that scares me.

My only real lingering concern with Jay Gruden is his choice of defensive coordinator. Didn't understand Joe Barry then, based on his track record, and can't reconcile it today given he's proving out to be exactly what he looked like coming in. At very best, a below average game-day coordinator.

I'm also concerned that he doesn't recognize talent very consistently. Long has clearly been an upgrade over Licked and Steined. Robert Kelly is clearly better than Matt Jones. Grant is a wasted roster spot. etc... He only went to Long and Kelly by force. He lucked out that they are better. Not very inspiring. And of course, the aforementioned Barry. Who, I might add, is still working with duct tape and hand me downs, while the offense gets all the great toys.

I would be shocked if Scot M. is on board with retaining Barry this offseason, and really, really disappointed in our head coach, and worried about his future here, if he turns out to be the reason Barry stays

Well, as has been said, lots can happen in 4 weeks. Anything from a playoff run, to a new head coach search. As I'm not too sure McCloo would be on board retaining any of 6-9-1 coaching staff.

And no, that's not what I think will happen. But then, WTF do I know?

Gotta call BS on you here Micks...if we had a defense worth a damn, we'd be 10-2 or 9-3 at least. Kirk did not lose that game, Arinas called 2 safety blitzes at the perfect time.

OK...... I saw alot of poor inaccurate passes at the feets of receivers. Didn't you? I saw nothing on the last drive to suggest he can be clutch when we need clutch. This was a game that whoever had the ball last was going to win it. Except if we have it last. No confidence there from the players. I saw poor execution in the red zone. Didn't you?

You didn't mention that I said we are consistent in all three phases of the game. Defense was bad just like always...consistent and nothing new here. play calling consistently poor. very poor, how many times did you actually say..."why are we running that play". The ONE phase of the game that was not consistent yesterday, was the offense. We were flat and they brought nothing to the table. That includes Kirk, he was just an average guy. Based on our consistently bad defense, we need much much better play at QB. Yes I know its not a popular idea. But look, are you telling me that a washed up Palmer is that much better than Kirk, and oh well we can't help that. Sorry, we need more.

Hey sorry if it sounded like I was piling on Kirk. There was plenty of culprits for this loss. The coaching being tops on the list.

Yep. Part of that was a great defensive scheme called because they recognized that we were shuffling the OLine, and attacked our weakness.

Going into the game, I figured that since I personally have more mobility than Carson Palmer, we might do the same.

He also threw 4-5-6 passes that were just simply out of his ordinary. A couple to Thompson, at least one to Crowder, and the goal line pass to Kelly was simply awful. Not that it mattered due to a penalty.

Yeah, a running game would also help the defense by controlling the clock. You can shorten the game and help limit the time your defense is exposed. It may help in the redzone as well.

I get that running is not the strength of this team. But some of the areas they struggle with would be helped by a bigger commitment to the running game.

I didn't see one single screen pass. That slows down the rush and usually has big results. But we don't call it. Poor coaching.

If you're saying we got out coached. Hell yeah. We've been out coached all year. I don't get that. They obviously don't do squat for in-game adjustments or halftime adjustments. NO adjustments at all. Did anyone see us go after the DB who went out and was replaced? no you didn't.

I'm actually shocked our coaching has regressed, if there is such a thing.
