I'm wondering how much the wind played into today's game. Both QBs were sub par, Hopkins had an extra point swerve left and a field goal blocked by gusts and the punting (more so from the Ravens) seemed a little awry.

Anything that needed airtime today seemed a little inconsistent.
Just a thought.

Living less than 5 miles from the stadium as the crows flies, it was windy...enough to affect the velocity of the ball.

A more somber event but good stuff

Two days after taking a plane full of supplies to the Bahamas to help survivors of Hurricane Matthew, Redskins owner Daniel Snyder will send medical supplies to Haiti, whose citizens have been hit the hardest by the storm, according to people with knowledge of the*team’s plans.
Redskins players Pierre Garcon and Ricky Jean Francois, both of Haitian descent, will represent the owner and their team and make the trip to Haiti on Monday.
At least 900 Haitians are believed to have died in the hurricane, and thousands of homes have been destroyed, leaving a believed 350,000 people in need of assistance.
Garcon and Jean Francois had solicited prayers for the storm-ravaged country. Both regularly take part in charitable work*of their own*in Haiti. Now both will serve as ambassadors for their team.

Agreed.

I know it's a contentious point to some, but I still really only view this as being season 2.5 for Kirk.

While he's been in the League for a few years now, he was part of the circus that was the Griffin/Kirk/Colt merry-go-round for much of it and in my opinion there's no real substitute for game experience. He now has a complete season of that under his belt and is going into Season 2.

Some of the issues I see with him are Coach related. I still wish they'd given him more pre-season reps, I think the coaching bails on the run too early sometimes, or makes odd calls that puts pressure on him to perform. Yes he makes bone headed plays sometimes but we all live and learn. And besides all QB's do that from time to time, Cousins isn't unique.

Decision making is about taking facts and experience and then deciding what to do. A player like Brady or Rodgers has hundreds of games and many thousands of snaps of experience to inform their decisions to a point where it's almost reflexive. Kirk isn't close to that, just like many other 2nd or 3rd year QB's.

I think the Franchise tag had him feeling some pressure to perform too.

He'll get it.

But I do think the wind issues yesterday may have compounded the problem with deep balls and off target throws.

Y'know I was just thinking about this team, this Redskins 2016 team...

In the past I've tried to stay optimistic on the Skins, but generally I used to walk into games expecting a defeat. I often wished that wasn't the case, but it was.

A confidence scale if you will. Ranging from 'We're ALWAYS gonna LOSE' to 'We're ALWAYS gonna WIN!'

Even games where we were supposed to win last year I always figured we'd lose.

This year I'm genuinely not sure what to expect from one week to another.

Our Offense CAN be good enough to score on anyone.
Our Special Teams CAN be effective
Our Defense, while not great, does have it's moments.

Prior to the Ravens game I was genuinely scratching my head. It feels to me like on any given day this team can beat almost anyone. But at the same time on any given day this team can lose to anyone.

I honestly feel like we're in that.... zone.

It's not that I'm confident that we'll always win... but equally I'm not convinced we'll always lose...

Not sure if that makes sense, but has anyone else felt a shift this year in their perception?

I feel that other teams will maybe start looking at us and saying... yeah we should beat the Skins.... but y'know... they're dangerous. I don't think playing the Skins is money in the bank for anyone really.

I'm in the same canoe as Knight and as Om pointed out, this was an opportunity game.

No it wasn't a shining example of clean and crisp but the cumulative stuff added up to a win, opportunity taken.

I think back to gaffs that this team has made, Djax missing the pylon last year, Griff's forward fumble trying to score into the zone... we've had ours and it usually led to less than positive outcomes.

The gaff game, like turnovers can influence the outcome, wonder if anyone keeps stats on gaffs.

I caught most of this game on the radio with some tv mixed in and heard or saw some of the high's and lows but didn't have a real feel for the 'flow of the game', one moment we're getting stomped by the run, later our D is all over the place making plays.

Thought for sure Hopkins nailed that long one, straight down the pipe but then saw the side view and was aghast how short it was..... don't tell me that wind didn't effect the air game.

Totally missed Crowder's and Blackmon's return game, did catch the Kirk INT/ fumble reprise and the Raven's killer TD/ toe out/reverse call. More for the gaff stat line eh?

Kirk's bad balls until this game were usually underthrown, sounds like he was long this game, overcompensating perhaps but the Garcon TD pass was pretty dang good, just need to see more of 'em.

Crazy effin' game that really did come down to inches.

Washington seems intent on adding some size to the middle of their line to help their run defense.

According to Mike Jones of the Washington Post, veteran defensive tackles Phil Taylor and Terrance Knighton are working out for the team today.

I agree with this. I am the first one to say there are no Moral Victories in the NFL. Well, there are no Moral Losses either. Every team gets lucky bounces.

You are what you are. The Redskins are 3-2. Enjoy.

I'd just like to point out that Baltimore had the #1 defense going into the game against the Redskins (it's still #3 right now) so maybe it's not all Kirk. They pay the other guys too.

The big issue with Cousins since he started playing really well was "could he do it against the better teams in the league." Well, maybe he won't look awesome against good defenses. Middling QBs generally don't. This is why we can't and shouldn't rely on him to carry the team.

That said, that doesn't mean Kirk shouldn't be the long-term guy here, but I do think it means we shouldn't build the team around him as if he's Aaron Rodgers, cuz he's not, and I don't think he every will be.

I don't know why, but he never struck me as super fast, as far as his running appearance on the field.

Crowder looked to me to be a "shifty"-type runner-especially in that TD return. He changed directions quickly without losing a step it looked like to me.
