Of course Gruden gets props for success.

But there's a difference between that and suggesting that it's 70% likely we will be in the Superbowl this year.

"Let's see" is exactly where most of us are right now.

Lol, yeah 70% might be a little over the top, doubt that Gruden himself would be that openly optimistic but I still prefer that over the 'not a chance' side of things.

We win the division last year. With a defense that was bad but the other three teams were equally as bad. Looking at the rosters I see very similar teams, no separation, imho. What's going to be difference this year?

Jay Gruden, that's the difference. All things being equal, the other three teams, just don't have it when it comes to coaching. No matter where you stand on Gruden, he is the early favorite to lead his team to the division title. Eagles and Giants rookie coaches, history says they never win it all. Garrett is ..... uh......garrett, he already has been castrated by Jerry and is a true non-factor.

There simply is no other coach in our division that can call plays like Jay. That's got to show up on the scoreboard, and I think it will.

All opinions are valid Henry. I like reading them all.

I remember last year when people had us picked to finish last, Cousins to suck, and people in Vegas were actually betting that Gruden would be the first HC fired. One new poster used to come on here weekly to tell us that Gruden was about to be fired like clockwork.

I said at the time that all three were the craziest predictions I had ever seen--from before the season started and all the way through.

We were going to the playoffs without any doubt, Gruden had zero chance of being fired, and that Cousins would look great--simply because Gruden's offense is that good. It didn't matter who our QB was. That probably sounded totally nuts to most fans.

We accomplished some amazing things as a team, and overcame serious problems and injuries. We even ended up with a 7-1? record at home! That's insane for our team. That's what the best teams do.

This year, I believe people are underestimating us again.

In short, I project Josh Doctson is the next AJ Green or Fitz. I also believe we just signed a young, concussion-free version of Polamalu. Fuller looks good and the Norman signing was huge.

Now take that team that won the division last year, and if I'm correct, add a young Fitzgerald, Polamalu and Revis to it.

I love our chances this year.

It appears the difference for the Redskins could very well be some under the radar performers who are now emerging into contributing roles that the season is a week away.

To me three of these guys stand out:

1. Ziggy Hood - he was complimented by coaches in preseason and camp but seemed to be running behind Kendall Reyes as a starter. Now that we are coming down the home stretch in September Hood is now a starter at RDE.

2. Shawn Lauvao - most of the offseason conversation was about Spencer Long and where he fit. But as it turns out, Lauvao not only came back healthy but was able to reclaim his starting job at age 28.

3. Greg Toler - the signing of Toler became an afterthought when Josh Norman came on board and the club drafted blue chip prospect Kendall Fuller. Not only did Toler make the 53 man roster, my guess is the veteran will end up starting if either starter goes down. I see Fuller and Phillips needing more development time and Toler could be an important bridge in 2016.

We've all been fans for a long time. We've all been right before, and we've all been wrong before.

I don't think pulling out resumes is all that necessary, do you? I mean I can if we REALLY want to do that.

In any case, I'm done railing against Convention Wisdom as being unfair or biased against this team. That's so 2005.

But that's just me.

Welp, I hope you keep on being right then. I'd much rather see your predictions come true than mine.

One of these years we will turn the corner. The law of averages demands it. I would have no problem if it turned out to be this year.

Anyone wanting to minimize the success from last year can do so, but they need to put things into perspective.

1. The year before we were terrible...a very bad team run by George Allen's son and Dan Snyder. It seemed they had continual conflicts with the coach about who should start at QB and it got ugly in the press. I give Gruden credit for fighting that battle the only place he could, in the media. Others suggest he shouldn't have aired dirty laundry like that. Either way, turns out he was correct and the brass hired a real football guy from the abyss. You guys remember me calling for that? (McD5 gets to boast about his predictions, so do I )

2.) We had nowhere to go, but up...and with a new GM in place we knew it would go up, just weren't sure when.

3.) Midway through the season the starting QB, whom the coach wanted the year before, started to overcome the problems that plagued him the year before and part of last season.

4.) The division sucked. No one ever blamed New England for being great in such a weak division.

5.) We doubled our win total from the year before and won the division.

That is a huge accomplishment and the upward trend looks viable this time, not just a flash in the pan. We had some growing pains, but we enter this season drama free for the first time in as long as I can remember. Even Gibbs II had drama, nothing like the subsequent years, but even then we had more drama than we do now.

Believe it not, there appears to have been a change in culture. We may not be much better than last year since we're still growing, but we are in position to win the division again...we just have to perform a little better than last year to do so...I don't think it's much of a stretch to think we can and do!

Let's face it. 2016 is the first season we have gone into with a quarterback 'worth' being given the franchise tender in how many decades?

Quarterback is the most important position on the team, and while Kirk will never be a play-maker in the mode of a Steve Young or Cam Newton, he is a guy that is intelligent enough and athletic enough to be a ruthlessly efficient passer in the NFL.

That's what Brees has been. Brady too.

In fact what has helped these players last to be 36 and 39 year old starters at qb is the reality they are pocket qbs with some wiggle.

They are not guys that used up their bodies taking up a part-time role as a running back/rushing threat.

The score doesn't indicate it, but Denver had no trouble, with basically a rookie QB, moving the ball up the field against that Carolina defense.
So many people said Josh Norman was over-rated, and he only succeeded by benefiting from an excellent defensive line.
Where was that defensive line tonight ?
If tonight is any indication, the Carolina defense is really suffering without Norman.
And that's a good sign for the Redskins.

Steelers' offense is going to be really hurtin.
They'll be without 2 of their best WR's along with a key RB - Markus Wheaton and Martavis Bryant, and Le'Veon Bell.
Norman just needs to take care of Antonio Brown.

Kendall Reyes, Kedric Golston and Spencer Long are all listed as questionable for the Skins.
WTF, we cannot afford a depleted D Line, especially at NT.

Looks like Baker is also tired of hearing that we didn't beat a team with a winning record.
We could go 12-4 this year and the four losses could be to the only teams on our schedule to finish with winning records, things are funny that way.

Nuthin.

People are just trying to make the injury seem more dramatic than it is. It sucks for Bridgewater but the Vikings arent a passing team. They could put any ol journeyman in that spot and their offense would look exactly the same.

I'm totally disgusted with Minnesota for pancking and giving the Eagles so much for mediocre Bradford. I hope it blows up in their stupid faces for bailing Phlly out of mortgaging their future.

See? It is Redskin related. Minnesota's stupidity is backing up on us.
