I have neither the time nor patience for all of that work. You're doing great. I wouldn't even know where to start.

The Gibbs and Gruden comparison thing.

These are two different people. Period. I don't want a clone version of Gibbs in Gruden or vice-versa. Let each be his own person.

Gruden is not the kind of leader that Gibbs is and vice-versa. Making comparisons in any sport never really works. How many times have we seen the expression, "This is the next ...fill in the blank.." regarding any athlete or coach? It never works out that way. Never.

Gibbs has a different kind of leadership that transcends football and NASCAR in general. You can say that it is his spiritual leadership that sets him apart and that is probably true.

However, what I think what sets him apart is his relationship with corporate America. There are a multiplicity of reasons why he attracts these business partners. How did he forge a relationship with FedEx? It's no accident that CEO Fred Smith got naming rights to the stadium and became part owner of the Redskins.

Look at his long (and close) relationships with GameStop, FedEx, Home Depot, Interstate Batteries, Mars (Virginia based), Freightliner, Coca-Cola and many others.

Sure, other NASCAR owners have attracted many sponsors, but Coach Gibbs has made them more than just partners. It's relationships. No wonder Toyota has tossed a lot of money in his direction.

Coach Gibbs simply has a knack for forging these kinds of partnerships.

Jay Gruden doesn't and that is not a negative imho. Name me another football coach that can go to another sport like Gibbs and be a champion several times over.

I believe Gruden can and will win a lot of football games for the Redskins. Any coaches after him need to forge paths in their own unique ways.

No one can duplicate a Coach Gibbs, Chuck Noll, Tom Landry, Bill Parcells, Vince Lombardi, Joe Montana, Walter Payton, John Riggins, Barry Sanders, Jerry Rice, Art Monk or Tom Brady.

Let the current coaches and players make their own legacies and enjoy the successes.

Those were just presented as being directly from his twitter feed (exact same wording, format similar), and the twitter feed was saying nothing about Gruden at all. Was Gruden actually mentioned on NFL network by him? Because that is the inference of what you posted.

I just see you constantly undermining your own good points by overhyping Gruden, while saying his mistakes and flaws don't matter. It's a shame sometimes that your good points get derailed by that, is all.

I think he's probably safe at least as a backup.

Yes Shi. NFL network right now has panels of "experts" on most days to try and fill up the time.

The topic that day was "Who are the best young coaches in the NFL?" Riddick picked Jay Gruden. He noted his success in developing Dalton and Cousins, and doing it in a difficult environment. He also thinks he's a great match for Scot.

That's great, and he also loves Scot, which is encouraging. But the next part I didn't like so much. He went on to promote Eric Schaeffer. He believes Schaeffer deserves a shot as President of another team. I've seen him praise his efforts on twitter a few times in the past too.

After all of the team-friendly contracts that Schaeffer has orchestrated--like Pot Roast and Galette-- I'd prefer it if no one even knew his name.

After seeing his segment, I went to his twitter feed where he was praising coaching and player development, and downplaying draft picks. I printed one of his quotes from twitter, but now I believe he was talking about basketball there.

So two days ago my son Sam started having stomach pains. We figured it was just a stomach bug or something but my wife consulted WebMD and quickly determined it was his appendix, so we rushed him to the emergency room and, sure enough, he had appendicitis. (This is Redskin related, bear with me.)

Anyway, we spent Memorial Day in the Children's wing of Fairfax Hospital keeping an eye on Sammy while he was recovering from surgery. Eventually he felt good enough to try walking down the hall. The nurse led us down to the activity room. That's when she explained that they had this really awesome room called Kerrigan's Korner, which was created and paid for by Ryan Kerrigan. It's this Burgundy and Gold painted room with a big Kerrigan Fathead on the wall, a huge flat-screen TV, a PS4 and a library of games and movies and all sorts of stuff.

Now, for those of you who may not know my son is a HUGE Redskin fan. Sitting in a Redskin-colored room playing Madden was easily the highlight of his day. It's funny, I hear about athletes doing philanthropic stuff on the news and think 'oh that's nice' and then go on with my day, but yesterday, it really mattered. Some day if I ever get the chance, I'm going to shake the man's hand. His good deed worked it's way to my son.

I have two thoughts on your story, Henry.

First, kudos to you and your wife for jumping on WebMD and not assuming it was cancer. Nice job.

Secondly, that's a REALLY cool story, and shows again why I'm glad we have guys like Kerrigan on our team.

In all fairness, that's pretty common. When I had appendicitis at the age of 8, my father also thought it was a bug... until my pediatrician realized my white blood cell count was through the roof and said "Yeah... you need to get him to the ER right now."

Fortunately these days an appendectomy is almost an outpatient thing. I had febrile seizures as a child and ran a fever from infection, so was in the hospital for almost a week. Glad to see he's doing so well already. Mine was also at FFax, albeit a much longer time ago...
