This post sucks. Sorry. Cheer up Henry! I actually think Fitzpatrick is a pretty good QB. Give him some WRs and a good running game, he's definitely not some journeyman. He can play.

Not that it really matters, but he's totally a journeyman. Hell, I'd have his picture next to 'Journeyman' in the dictionary. He's a 33 year-old QB who's played for six different teams, mostly as a backup, and when he starts he's average and doesnt elevate the play of his team in any signifcant way. The very very best season of his career was this year, when his team went 10-6 and he personally folded like a cheap suit against a mediocre opponent with a playoff berth on the line. If thats not a journeyman I dont know what is. Has a Fitzpatrick-led team ever even made the playoffs? I could be wrong but I dont think so. It really shouldnt be taking this long for a QB of his calibre to sign on the dotted line.

Sorry about the dig against the Skins, but to be fair I didnt bring that up. Im actually quite cheery these days. :)

The quarterbacks out there are so poor no wonder Osweiler got $62M.

He of the 7 game stint as qb of an eventual NFL champion team in Denver who watched the SB from the vantage point of the Gatorade station on the bench :)

Who else has been in motion? Mark Sanchez, Matt Moore, possibly Kaepernick and maybe even Sam Bradford before it is all said and done.

But these guys are all bottom half of the league passers.

Fitzpatrick looks good when compared to these guys.

Oh I think the dearth of decent QBs is driving up Fitzpatrick's asking price, for sure. And Osweiler's insanely overpriced contract certainly factors in as well.

That said, Osweiler is eight years younger than Fitzpatrick. He could conceivably improve (the Texans had better hope so.)

What you see from Fitzpatrick, with his 43-61-1 record and 80.8 career passer rating, is what you get.

I do have to ask, was my little one-liner about Ryan effing Fitzpatrick THAT controversial? I didn't realize it was going to cause such an uproar.

I'll be happy to rescind my initial comment about him and forget this little side-debate ever happened. I don't really care about the Jets or their QB, pretty much at all. So whatever. :)

Two people have replied :)

Me - I hated the 'but that's not saying much' comment. We ain't Cleveland - just sayin :)
And Bulldog and I think Fitzpatrick is a better than average QB. QB play is impacted by the quality of the surrounding cast. He hasn't had a surrounding cast - period. And he's still looked pretty solid and at times quite good.

We still going? Ok. :)

Fine. Ryan Fitzpatrick is, um, a good quarterback. When the Jets pay him $20 mil a season for the next 4-5 years after a long, drawn out negotiating period, I'm sure it will be a good deal. The end.

Well, we ain't exactly New England either. I didn't realize performance against the 2008-2015 Redskins had become the bellwether of NFL quarterbacks.

Fitzpatrick has won four games against us:
In 2008, during our 2-6 slump to end our season and finish 8-8, his Cincinnati Bengals beat us 20-13.
In 2011, during our glorious 5-11 season, his Buffalo Bills beat us and the incomparable John Beck 23-0.
In 2014, during our 3-13 season, his Houston Texans beat us 19-7.

... and this past year his Jets beat us 34-20. That's by far the best he's ever done against us. And it was at the beginning of the season when Cousins was still finding his game and the Jets were still playing pretty well.

But I suppose one could say that the 2015 Redskins were a worthy opponent and therefore proof that Ryan Fitzpatrick is worth a big contract. :)

Good day to you all. I'm going to get some coffee.

Fits is an above avg QB and our D was good enough to help us be the best team in the division in 2015. #facts

And enjoy your coffee!

Which end of an era are we talking about now? :D

Don't care about Fitz all that much but every time I've seen him play the Skins he's shown to be good enough to beat us.

Kinda like the rookie QBs that seem to feast on the Skins on more than a fair share of occasion.

And Henry, you know there's very little to talk about right now - so we gotta argue and nitpick about things none of us really care about :) At least that's all I'm doing! Hope you are having an awesome Saturday my friend. And I hope the next playoff game we go to is a lot better (and warmer) than the last one.

The Jets defense rolled the Redskins in that game.

Just like the Panthers got spanked in the SB by Denver.

It wasn't the qb that stole the show.

I think it's time this thread comes to an end. Bada Bing!!!! :)
