oh yeah...he KNEW the refs were in his pocket. They didn't get a single holding call against them the entire game even though I saw Kerrigan's neck stretch about 3 inches from being choked.

I just re-watched the first half of the game and cannot believe some of the blatant holding penalties that went uncalled. Kerrigan was tackled on a play by the RT and no call, the RT yanked him off balance, then tackled him.

Something else that went uncalled at least 2 times I saw tonight, was the 3rd man in rule that went overlooked. I have been beating this drum for a few weeks, but I really like Brandon Scherff and the way he finishes plays. If yo're engaged with him and you give him the slightest edge, he will drive you into the ground like a bull. On 2 separate occasions Clay Matthews flew in late to defend his team mate...well after the whistle...attacking Scherff. Kid shrugs it off and goes on to the next play, but that's personal foul penalties that go uncalled.

Yeah El. It's easy in the emotion of the moment to chalk it up to the NFL being against us or whatever. I don't really believe that, but 4 days later and I still the refs were brutal. Not bad, brutal. That was embarrassing.

I think it's akin to the Jordan Rules. I don't believe NFL refs don't go into game planning to screw one team, but I do think there's a certain deference and benefit of the doubt in play when it comes to the teams with established superstars. Brady, Manning, Rodgers ... no one is really ever surprised when calls go their way, and by extension, their team's way.

Sometimes that even extends to the best teams ... I remember during the '91 Super Bowl season, turning to whoever I was watching with and saying "we got away with one there" a few times. Rightly or wrongly, because we were an established elite team, it just seemed like we got our share of breaks from the refs, and maybe even a little more.

The 2016 Skins will have to build on the growth of 2015 and work their way toward becoming the kind of team that zebra's consciously or unconsciously give the benefit of the doubt. And it won't hurt one bit if Kirk Cousins continues to develop and establishes himself as a legit, big-time NFL QB, either.

There's also the fact that win you win consistently you bitch less at the refs. I'm sure this results in some unintended bias on the parts of the ref. Like most everything else, winning cures all. We were getting some favorable calls during our end of season streak.

This is what I was going to say. I don't think it's coincidence that the Bengals got the short end of the ref stick when both teams were beating on each other fairly evenly. I think teams that are in the playoffs all the time tend to get the benefit of the doubt. I don't necessarily agree with it, but I'm certain it happens. And I'm sure it happened to us to a certain extent.

Meh. Just another reason to hate the NFL.

This is what I was going to say. I don't think it's coincidence that the Bengals got the short end of the ref stick when both teams were beating on each other fairly evenly. I think teams that are in the playoffs all the time tend to get the benefit of the doubt. I don't necessarily agree with it, but I'm certain it happens. And I'm sure it happened to us to a certain extent.

I still think that's more part of the Rooney/Mara cabal that I'm pretty sure pulls Goodell's strings.

The ref's blew it on the first 12men penalty, if enough screw ups by the refs are made known maybe there will be a shift in bias (if there is any) as it becomes evident that certain teams in particular matchups get some benefit.

Or maybe donations to the retired referees fund just came in late from the Redskins this year.

Or maybe our team collectively just blew the opportunity to get over the hump.

The NFL really is king. With all the off field stuff, the concussion situation, and the terrible officiating, they just keep on trucking along. Any other league would be getting destroyed. The NFL? Doesn't matter.
