Random Commanders Thoughts

For those of you going to the game I'm hearing a rally towel will be in effect. Represent bitches!

Random Redskins Thought of the Day (last post until post-game, hold the applause.)

The 2007 Giants won the Superbowl as a wild card 5th seed. In the history of the NFL, there has been no other 5th seeds to win. Packers are 5th seed.

I find this stat totally surprising, but hey, I'll take it. Just get pressure on Rogers and they'll fold like a broken lawn chair. But do not, do not let him sit back there and pick us apart. What he is great at.

Oakland Raiders won the Super Bowl as a Wild Card, the year they beat Philly
I will always remember that, with the Raiders being my favorite team.

My fear is we take a 3 score lead and then Barry goes soft D. Rodgers will own us if that happens.

Alfred Morris has not had his best season this year. Whether it's because he has been splitting carries with Matt Jones, run blocking or just because he's slowing down, Morris just has not been able to find a rhythm this season.

Could that be about to change this Sunday?

"We never lost faith in Alfred," said head coach Jay Gruden.

Despite the tough season, Gruden still believes Morris is "the most steady" of the team's running backs. In fact, Gruden believes the lack of carries Morris has taken this season could be a benefit as he is still relatively "fresh."

Said Gruden, "This is the perfect time to start utilizing him."

It doesn't matter who signed him. The current roster is Scot's and he chose to keep Ross around. Just saying.

Just got to Redskins' media room for first time in couple months, and everyone is smiling, happy and lacking cynicism. It's just so...weird.

Kirk Cousins is one of only a handful of QB that handle protection calls. Something a lot of people don't know. Most teams use the C.

Breaking Burgundy ‏@breakburgundy
Gruden congratulates Chris Baker. Why? Birth of his first daughter: "Hopefully she looks like his wife."

Chris Russell ‏@Russellmania621
Matt Jones is still not fully healthy. Just doesn't seem like Jay Gruden is very confident in him being able to play.

Brian McNally ‏@bmcnally14
Jay Gruden said CB Quinton Dunbar "had a good day today" and did some team drills. RB Matt Jones is still under evaluation.

Craig Hoffman ‏@CraigHoffman
It's pointed out to Gruden that GB has done well against TE's lately. "With all due respect, they haven't seen a tight end like Jordan."

George Wallace ‏@GWallaceWTOP
Gruden on Clay Mathews: "He's very good. He's a problem. He's a guy we need to be aware of at all times."

Tarik El-Bashir ‏@TarikCSN
Gruden says Jones (hip) was limited again. Added he's never lost faith in Morris, who he says is the most consistent and fresh of the 4 RBs.

Washington Redskins ‏@Redskins
Gruden said the intensity level picked up at today's practice. "The guys are starting to feel it." Wild Card matchup vs. Packers on Sunday.

Lake Lewis Jr ‏@LakeLewis
Gruden: CB Williams should be fine as he played some similar schemes and styles in Philadelphia, Seattle and Baltimore.

Tarik El-Bashir ‏@TarikCSN
DC Joe Barry says new CB Cary Williams has had two really good days of practice since arriving Monday.

Tarik El-Bashir ‏@TarikCSN
Barry says he's shown his players the TV copy of #Packers games to help them get used to Rodgers' cadence, which he uses to draw offside.

DeSean on Chip Kelly: "I don’t really care too much about that. I’m happy where I’m at; I’m happy where my career has brought me to."

Green Bay Packers @packers
McCarthy: Sam (Shields) is still going through the protocol. It's a process. Every injury is different, especially concussions.

Stephen Czarda ‏@SCzardaRedskins
Senior Bowl later this month. McCloughan said last year he likes experienced college guys, so keep tabs on this.

Redskins sacks allowed in 2014: 58
Redskins sacks allowed in 2015: 27
If that's not dramatic improvement, I don't know what is.

Brett McMurphy ‏@McMurphyESPN
Former Eagles coach Chip Kelly visited w/Alabama staff earlier this week in Tuscaloosa

Pro Football Focus @PFF
Top 5 WRs in Catch Rate:
Jamison Crowder: 79.7%
Doug Baldwin: 78.8%
Larry Fitzgerald: 77.9%
Tyler Lockett: 76.1%
Golden Tate: 74.4%

Taking our sacks against from 58 to 27 is ridiculous! Id say a 50/50 congrats between McLuvs and especially Callahan is in order.

Kirk probably gets some credit for that as well. We know that sacks aren't always all on the OL.
