oh please...I won't question your integrity...but I will question your field of view. the *amn offensive line was fixed for the first time in a long time; we actually hired a QB coach partly because the HC couldn't get it done; we actually drafted o-line effectively.

good for Kirk. I'm putting it all in perspective. I've been watching QBs for 50 years now and I know where his performance fits in on the scale. not to be too sharp about it...but I don't really care what the bleachers think.
 
We will see this playoff run how much work we need to do in the offseason but with Scott even if we are the most stacked team in the NFL we will probably improve on that lol.

I read something the other day it said Give Scott 5 drafts with 9-10 players in each draft and this team will be consistently in position for long playoff runs year in and year out

most first time head coaches never realize that they can't do it all and usually refuse to hire a QB coach. His willingness to admit his mistakes is good

Well, assuming the rest of us are the bleachers, I can't imagine why you feel inclined to view our posts as we are clearly not worthy. ;) And when you tell someone you won't question their integrity, that's exactly what your doing, so no need to try to sugar coat that. I agree the Oline has improved and that obviously benefits the QB, but it is still broken and far from elite and will absolutely struggle against a truly good D-line. So far you've been proven 100% wrong on Kirk. I've seen nothing to suspect he'll do anything other than continue to prove you wrong. But, if he doesn't, it will suck and we'll move on. Redskins fans are tough like that. :)
 
Joe Theismann, in his first season as a consistent starter (1978 started 14 of 16), went 7-7 and threw for 2600 yards with a 48% completion percentage, 13 tds, 18 ints, and posted a qbr of 62.
 
Joe Theismann has a Super Bowl ring.

That trumps yardage records. Every time.

Which gets to the point.

Theismann's 1st year starting, like Kirk's, tells us nothing about the future.

Unless, as I've said in other threads, Kirk is hoisting the Lombardi next month.
 
It tells me that he is better at that point. Hopefully he ends up better too over time.

Because I've no interest in assigning credit or blame. I'm only interested in how good a QB he is or isn't. He's playing at a high level. I see no reason his individual play will decline. That's not to say it won't be negatively impacted by other forces, but I can separate that and gauge with my own measuring stick if the affects are more than they should be for a top caliber QB. We'll see.

hardly Steve...you know better than that.

Based on what I saw in preseason...I thought Cousins was going nowhere. his performance over the last 4-5 games has erased those concerns. those problems were bonafide and needed to be fixed. Gruden/McVeay have called the passing game mostly as a substitute for the running game. partly that's WC offense.....partly it's dealing with a junior QB. Cousins has matured...he has grown into the position. it, however, has been an uneven ride. whether others chose to gloss this over or not is their decision. I take my time in making up my find....I believe in sustained performance and context. should we all be happy with Cousins progress? absolutely. unlike others prone to rose colored glasses or desperate for any kind of positive feedback...I'm gonna wait until the next iteration occurs: against better defenses, against well coached teams. that shouldn't be a difficult concept to absorb. for me...that's what's really exciting. the best beating the best. that's what Joe Gibbs was all about.

if proving me wrong is your real agenda - have at it! doesn't impact me...and if Cousins does so...we all prosper! tough guy eh? :)
 
I wonder how many of the teams who expressed trade interest for Cousins are kicking themselves in the arse right now?

While I wasn't thinking about that I was wondering if Shanahan got a job and if we place the exclusive rights franchise tag on Kirk if he would try to trade for him
