Don't run exclusively out of the Jumbo package and totally give your intentions away when you pull the extra linemen off the field.

It's little things that turn out to be big things that I see the team just give away.

understand and agree.

The other issue...and I don't have the numbers...but the pundits keep referring to it vis both the offense and the defense.....is the high number of instances in which things break down on a per play basis because one person doesn't execute (i.e., brain farts) leading to a breakdown of the concept behind the scheme. according to what I hear...a large percentage of the time this is simply due to poor decision-making/poor fundamentals.

that reaches back to coaching...and accountability in my book.
 
The entire coaching staff deserves some praise for winnning on a short week, on the road.

But Callahan especially. He finally used Darrel Young this week as a blocker--even as a receiver on one play. According to Keim, Callahan isn't a fan of using FBs, so that was a big adjustment.

I don't know if he came up with the idea, or if he was "strongly encouraged" by the HC, but that isn't too important. He adapted and it worked.
 
Jay Gruden absolutely kicks ass.

I can't believe we convinced him to come here, but thank you God.

I expect us to be in the SB no later than next year. And very possibly this year.

That might be characterized as a little bit 'overly enthusiastic' McD5, but as I said in BGO Chat today - Gruden is outperforming expectations and deserves a ton of credit for obvious growth of this team. We are competitive every week, the QB play is well above expectations, and the defense and special teams, nitpicking aside, are vastly improved over 2014.

I don't know how anyone could not be happy with the progress that is evident.

Whether or not the Redskins make the playoffs, or somehow find a way to make noise in the playoffs, this season has been a positive progression and all parties involved need to be kept in the fold to continue to work for the future.

I believe he's Joe Gibbs jr. I also believe he'll be here ten years and win multiple SBs. Then again, I may be crazy. I've felt that way about him for ten years now.
 
We haven't made the playoffs once yet. Let's make that happen and then we'll talk. I like what I'm seeing.

I think we've got a great one.

That guy never gives up. He can overcome amazing piles of crap, difficult owners, impatient fanbases and nothing stops him. He's a winner.

This team feels an awful lot like 1983 to me.
 
Abundant Redskins Spirit add...Abundant Christmas Spirit and then add four or five Crown and Coke's and you have McD5's abundant optimism.

He said earlier in the week that Kirk was cleared for takeoff this weekend......and takeoff he did!

McD, I have been impressed with Gruden this year. You know that's hard for me to say. I think he butchered the Griffin situation last year, but he appears to have learned from that and is moving forward with a new frame of reference that should help moving forward.

It's hard for me to jump completely on board yet though. I gotta be honest, that Dallas loss a couple of weeks ago was devastating. Gruden has rallied the team to play well the last couple of weeks, but that Dallas game was just... oy vey.
 
Goal...I'd hold off for a while. In two years Gruden has won exactly two games against teams with winning records. both of those came last season.

right now we have a team that can beat other average teams...and get waxed by the good teams. this is a positive step over the past so the "facts" are mixed.

two victories against teams with winning records. 32-2 = x....you can figure out the rest

if the issue is diction...ok: rationalizations......if that suits prevailing temperament

I mostly agree, but have been encouraged by some positive signs. IF Gruden has learned from his mistakes, I can live with that, as that shows an ability to self-critique and grow which is something many adults lack.

That effing Dallas game just sticks in my craw though. Having a hard time not looking back at that one with a shitton of regret.
 
No matter what happens the rest of the way, we are in a better position for next year now than we were at the beginning of the season and I can't remember the last time I thought that.

Can you provide the data on teams like Carolina or New England and how many winning teams they have beaten? The Packers, Seahawks...heck, even the Bengals or Steelers, Broncos? How do those teams do against winning teams vs losing teams?
 
I don't care how they perform. I care about the Redskins and how they are coached. I know instinctively....that by ANY SCALE...beating teams with winning records twice over two years is a poor track record. I don't need a cross reference or statistical analysis. Is that the only criterion? no. does it have significance to me. yes.

see!! that's how you address an approach I know has bothered you in the past!

I would not have agreed with this 6 months ago, but I am really starting to believe in Gruden, and see some of the parallels to the early Gibbs years. I also think we have the best GM/FO since Bobby Beathard. I was as close as I've been to kinda giving up on the Redskins a back in August so it's very nice to have something to be excited about.
