In consecutive home games, Cousins throws a deep ball to Jackson. Can we put to rest the notion Cousins can't throw the deep ball? Looks like when WR gets open deep, Cousins can get them the ball.

When he does it on the road, I'll be more of a believer. Great game by the entire team, and that's the key after all.... it's a team sport. Great division win, 3 to go to make it really meaningful. Kirk had a great game, though he did get lucky on the one throw that should have been a pic 6. He didn't do anything to hurt us today, so that is progress I guess.

Not saying crown him the future of this franchise, right now...but if you cannot see he has the ability to hit the WR deep after that TD to Jackson and the TD to Jackson 2 weeks ago at home, then you're not looking. It appears Jackson's ability to actually get open was what was lacking.

Considering the disastrous games Kirk has put forward playing against the Giants in the past, I'm thrilled with his game today. Wasn't crazy about some of the playcalling today, but I thought Kirk had a really nice day.

Those aren't mutually exclusive. He could not do anything to hurt us, first, thus allowing him to have a great game.

And apparently you didn't pick up that I was screwing with you, ergo the winkie thingie.... It's like Eli and Beckem.... heave it in the general direction, and let Djax run under it. It has been a key component that's been missing, and that's what Djax is best at, adjusting to the ball while it's in the air.

I'm friggin thrilled we beat the Giants. It was a huge game for us in so many ways.... Cousins has broken through and finally beat the Giants. He wasn't a world beater, but he did enough to win, and nothing to hurt our cause, and that was the key in my opinion. He still doesn't seem to pick up the coverage at times throwing with a defender waiting to jump on it, and he got away with one today. We're in first with the tie breakers, and have 3 division games to go against teams that are beatable IMO. Not walk overs by any means, but much more promising with Romo gone, and Philly sucking butter milk up their butts. It's also great to sit hear with my wife (Giants fan) across the room fairly pissed off. We have a good shot at a playoff spot, though I'd rather roll in with a solid team having a chance then going in knowing we have little hope of advancing

It's been brought up several times how Kirk's passes appear to be 'floating', often it does but I've also seen him throw darts with plenty of zip so he's capable.

Don't know if his arm is tired (full season first time starter) or he's just making sure of touch on some of them but if he gets it to the receiver a half step quicker better things will happen 'cause it looks like defenders get that half to make a play.

In my book, not doing anything to hurt us is having a great game against the Giants. The Giants have been Cousins biggest hurdle in the division. He's stunk it up the last two games against the Giants, and in general they have had our number punched for a long time. Even though some of his turnovers against the Giants can be attributed to the receiver, he hasn't played well against them overall. I think most, even the biggest Cousins supporters would generally agree with that.

If not making any mistakes can't be a major contributor for a QB having a great game, who's record has a number of mistakes in prior outings against said team, I don't have an answer for you...

Many talking heads are bringing up locker room talk about how the guys believe in Kirk, players see it and think that the public (media) should see it too.
Comments are perceived as more than players just talking up their QB, it appears to be genuine.

Kirk got a monkey off his back.

My only gripes:

1) He threw a pick-6 that was dropped.
2) We should've come away with more than 20 points. Bad defense, 3 INTs, Tress Way giving us field advantage.

Kirk gets kudos for:

1) Throwing it to a spot only Desean Jackson could catch it.
2) Taking what the defense gives him & not making big mistakes.

BTW, Desean Jackson makes a huge difference for our pass game & he is well worth the $9M he makes... I think there is no way he's not on the team next year. He makes 1 or 2 big splash plays a game & hopefully they find more ways to get him involved.

We're 4 games through a 5 game period where I said I'd evaluate what I thought of the team based on those outcomes. Given that Romo is injured, it's very likely we win 3 of those 5 games. The team has overall exceeded my expectations (which were quite low). Right now, I'd say no reason to make changes at Coach or QB (based on current expectations). McCloughan has to get another WR (hopefully keep DJax), a Center, a Guard, an Inside Linebacker, a CB & a Safety... oh... yeah, and draft another young QB.

I know everyone keeps saying we need another WR, but I'm not sure Scot will go that route. I'd say we should be prepared for more help along the OLine, and a big focus on the D in the draft. If there is a transformational WR available when we draft, maybe he pulls the trigger. But if you go back and look at the superb WRs over the last ten years (Andre Johnson, Calvin Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, etc), you'll see many more playoff-less years than playoff runs.

I think Scot will be content with Kirk, as he should be. I personally have done a 180 on Kirk, and am excited to see if he can take the next step in his development: winning on the road. Scot will add some help on the OLine I would guess, but will probably mostly concentrate on the D. I would guess we'll pickup an additional WR in the 4-6th rounds, ala Crowder (especially if another good one falls), but I don't see that position being a major point of emphasis.

The Redskins have enough talent to beat bad teams and also teams in the middle of the standings.

They don't have enough horses (especially with injuries) to go toe to toe with elite teams.

Realistically, a rebuilding team just working through its first season with a new GM and its first #1 pick since 2012, the Redskins at 5-6 are about where they should be.

If after being on the job for just 10 months, McCloughan could get the Redskins to topple New England and Carolina he would be a true miracle worker 👼

IMO, the most accurate and concise statement of where the Redskins are as a team at this point in time.
