Random Commanders Thoughts

No leadership.

First year starting qb and a lot of younger players with no strong voices in the locker room.

As Doc Walker said there's not enough fight in this dog [emoji35]

They've fought plenty this year. It's actually a pretty ridiculous assertion given the comebacks and near comebacks this team has had. I'll say it again - there is a difference between laying down and giving up and just getting your ass shellacked by a superior team. My learning point this week has been that it's only passé to over react to a big win. Over reacting to a big loss is 'keeping it real'.

Man, I know the Culliver penalty was a rough. But, moving on from that, the holding call on Reed suuuuuuuuuuuuucked. Kirk ran a read-option play to like the 5 yrd line. Then dumb holding call. Subsequent plays result in another penalty and then sack/fumble. Boom goes any smidgen of life left in that game....

And as Boone pointed out, despite that horrid game, somehow, some way, win against Mara's team = 1st place. If Gruden needs to run around yelling code red, I don't care, just get the team prepared for this golden opportunity!

Hail.

I am pretty much on the other side of the fence at the moment. He is too up and down and his coach is too in love with him to be fair. I looked up Griffin vs the 49ers (that was probably his worst game) and found this

he went 11 of 19 for 106 and 5 sacks
Cousins last weekend went 22 of 30 for 206 and 1TD with 5 sacks

now, while the numbers appear to go in favor of Cousins I looked at the running.

Morris vs 49ers: 21 carries for 125
The entire Redskins rushing stats vs Carolina: 12 carries for 14 yards

then I looked up Griffin vs Tampa Bay...arguably his worst game by some people as well

22 of 32 for 207 1 TD and 2INTs with 6 sacks
Morris 20 carries for 96 yards
Griffin 6 carries for 41 yards

Know what I see is different about these 2 quarterbacks? Not much except the running game has vanished in 2015 even though we've added another piece. Cousins is not a better QB than Griffin...

Cousins has 29INTs
Griffin has 23INTs

Cousins has 33TDs
Griffin has 40TDs

Griffin has 8100yards
Cousins has 5515 yards

Griffin has 37 starts
Cousins has 24 starts

All of these stats are getting closer together yet everyone agrees that Robert should be out. Why don't the same people see that Kirk is just a carbon copy for the most part?

No ones mind is going to be changed in this debate. This isn't Kirk against Griffin. It's Kirk against Kirk. Peace will never be achieved with how things went with Griffin. The sooner we come to terms with that and move on the better.

when trying to compare stats of Kirk to someone who would you suggest I use? I didn't say that I want to put Griffin back in, but he is the last QB we had that was benched and buried for his lack of production. I don't see anything that is different about Kirk that should allow him some sort of special leeway. Besides the fact that Gruden won't allow anyone to openly criticize him without coming to his defense. But that is

I think it's pointless to compare stats. Favre and Marino have similar td/int ratios lifetime as Kirk is having this year with Kirk having a slightly better rating. Now we all now Kirk ain't no Favre or Marino. There's just way more context needed to evaluate a QB than simple stats. I've seen improvement in Kirk, which is my opinion based on what I see on the field. No, he hasn't established himself as more than a stop gap or backup at this point. But, I've not seen enough to be convinced he can't be more than that. I freely admit I want him to be the man. I wanted Griffin to be the man. I just want someone, anyone to be the freaking man. ;

As far as Gruden protecting him in public, it's probably what he should be doing. And what he should have done last year. A case of lesson learned, I would imagine.

I guess I'm not following you here. Favre and Marino were never on the same team so comparing them isn't the same as comparing teammates. Not only are they teammates but cousins literally replaced Griffin so his stats would compare to his no matter what. Like how people compare rivers to brees, or Humphries to Doug Williams.

My point is that stats don't tell the full story. And they don't here either. The story on Cousins is still developing. Some have decided on the ending, having seen enough to satisfy themselves one way or the other. Some, myself included, see improvement in areas that lead to some amount of optimism. It just doesn't matter what Griffin did or didn't do at this point. Kirk has to win the job from himself.

Interesting. They told griffins story and he was benched due to sacks and holding the ball too long.

Oh well, I'm over the debate when I'm now told stats aren't telling the truth. Thats about the one truth I know in sports. The rest is opinion.

I also respect your opinion on this

Redskins might get 2 games in London next season

My random thought for today..... A QB on the outs in San Fran could be our starting QB come 2016....

Hmmm....when you were young, Miles, were you that neighborhood kid who loved to throw rocks at wasp's nests just to watch the mayhem when they all came swarming out mad as hell and looking for something to sting? :cheesy:

There will be no BBQ this week. It could be evaluated as now we have weekly posts of grades from pundits and members. I'm not angry or upset about it, just noticing these new trends and thinking BBQ is no longer relevant during the season.

if we end up playing in London isn't there a chance it wont be on TV? I remember one of the London games this year only being on the internet..

You're not doing it right then :) Grilling is the best way to make a turkey imho. I'll be spatchcocking mine.

Oh I don't doubt I'm doing it wrong.
I've seen your world-renowned "What's For Dinner" thread. And I've learned enough to know that, anyone who isn't doing it the "Boone Way", is doing it wrong.
In fact, I'm FAR from doing it right, considering I've never even heard of the term "spatchcocking" before. Then again, I've never lived like an NC Mountain Man, like you and Eustice Conway do :)
