Robert Griffin III just moved a spot up the depth chart, although we’re not sure why.
According to Mike Jones of the Washington Post, quarterback Colt McCoy wasn’t practicing with the team today, instead he was watching in a baseball cap and sneakers.
No reason was given for the absence, which will be updated when practice is over later.
If there’s anything wrong with McCoy that would keep him off the field, RG3 would suddenly be QB2 behind Kirk Cousins.
And while it might not be a big deal at all, it could also be a big risk for Washington, since Griffin has that $16 million guarantee for next year in the event of an injury.
They’ve steadfastly denied they want to move him, and frankly it’s hard to imagine anyone wanting him with that big number hanging around. But apparently he’s one step closer to moving back on the field.
