Thank you for saying end of this year. Can some of the rest of you wait for the year to happen? At some point, the coach, GM, owner, media, and fans all need to stick with one QB. I'm not high on Kirk, but I was happy thinking that there would be one QB given the opportunity to succeed of fail for the year. No QB carousel this year. Let's let the year play out. Kirk may improve or he may have reached his ceiling. But there is only one way to find out and that is to play. Then, at the end of the year, if the QB is bad, you move on. If the coach is bad, you bring in a new one. But right now, it's week 3. We've seen one ok game, one great game, and one bad game from this team.

I'm disappointed after last night. Likewise, I was happy after last week. But the team is about what I expected going into this year. 13 more games to go.

Well, I'm as pissed off as anyone about last night. But I damn sure ain't throwing in the towel.

I still hold to my preseason predictions

We will have a winning record.
We'll be in contention for the division title, into December.
And, we can do it with any one of the 3 QB's on the roster.
 
So, we have the 2 best backs in the league right now arguably and we run the ball.....17 times total.

That's all on the ****ing coaches. What a ****ing complete shitting of the bed.
 
Yeah, that seems Gruden's schtick.

Die hard Bengals friend of mine stated that as soon as the hiring came out. There's an avalanche of mistakes to clean up but with our team there needs to be 35 attempts MINIMUM.

Edit: When opponents stack the box Kirk needs to make the throw & the wr needs to catch it too. Then right back to pounding the rock.

Finished Dexter Manley: A Football Life. A lot to react to there. I'd forgotten a little bit of how bad it got for him there, but he has never lost that smile. Two football related things that popped in my head

1. Every time I see replays of football in the 80s, I think ...'Damn....those shoulder pads were big"
2. Dang....Jimmy Johnson was his college coach?
3. On Gary Clark's comments regarding Manley's illiteracy. I never thought about how it would affect him with the playbook. He probably had to learn most of it by sight and sound.
 
What an amazing episode of A Football Life.

I personally thought that Dexter's ranked ahead of the ones done on Riggins and Taylor.

apologies. not in the book for me. the track record is there going back into college days.

the real fix, of course, is a new HC. but that drama may have to play out another year before it is obvious this cat is not the master of all he surveys....and not a real leader.
 
This site has hit a real ****ing bump in the road and it seems like there is a real negative cloud looming. I'm not sure what the hell is going on but even I'm over it.

We're here because we're friends not to trash the team and organization. There are plenty of sites that handle that for us.

We need as many happy posts as we can get. How about posting positive things instead of going overboard with the negativity? New members or members looking to join aren't going to want this here. They want what they've heard and what we have been.
 
I watched the Dexter Manley football life. It's so awesome he has been sober 9 years. You can tell he is really happy where he is in life now. You can also tell how much pain he had going through his struggles. But he is also so grateful for the times he had in the NFL. You can see it in his eyes. And that smile. WOW! He still has it.

As for the production of the episode, I wish there was more form some of his other teammates. Daryl Grant was great. So were Mann and Gibbs. But only one or two sound bites from guys like Darrell Green and Gary Clark. I just wanted to hear more from guys that played with him.

The only thing that bugged me was why was Harry Reid in that documentary at all? What ties does he have to Dexter Manley? And if I remember correctly, he's one of the biggest mouths in congress calling for the Redskins to change the name. It really was the only thing I didn't like about that whole episode, but it made me really mad just seeing him in the episode.

I didn't know that either. That was crazy to hear. This is why people should watch these documentaries. You learn new things like that.
 
I also didn't know that scar on his face was from a box cutter or that he was considered the most dominant pass rusher not named LT.

I did not know that either. I was a kid during Manley's playing days. The only things I knew about him were:

1. He was a dominant and ferocious pass rusher
2. He was a loud mouth
3. He couldn't read
4. He was a drug addict

There was so much more I learned about him watching that. I also was reminded how great of a football player he was. I loved seeing him drill the QBs and in some cases rip their helmets off. Those are the images I remember of him playing.

The other big thing I didn't know, is that he was a gunner on the punt team. That's just insane that a guy that big was that fast and had those kind of moves to be able to beat two blockers and tackle the punt returner.
 
I'm in the same boat. I didn't know that Ditka ran his mouth but not shocked. Was funny to see Otis Wilson laugh and talk about how Ditka shouldn't have done it.
 
Other people need to join this conversation. It's a lot more pleasant and fun than some of the other minutiae other people are talking about in other threads.
 
Just watched the Dexter Manley Football Life... awesome. I was 7 when he got kicked out of the NFL, 5 when he got kicked off the Skins, and his name was one that I've simply never forgotten. He was what everyone now a days tries to avoid.... yet he was fully embraced, and beloved.
 
The year he was drafted, Dexter was 2nd fastest guy on the team, I believe. Behind Superman.

I remember him well, being old enough to have watched his whole career. The good, and the bad.

It's great that time allows us to focus on the good.

First time I noticed him, he was a gunner, the tv shot was focused on the returner, soon as the ball got there he was creamed by Dex.
So big, so fast, who was that guy?

Very similar to Green catching Dorsett, much more was made about this one but the two plays are indelibly etched in my mind.

He liked to 'ring their clocks' :)
