You mean the physical he'll take to pass the concussion standards set by the CBA? Yeah, I'm absolutely assuming that he will be able to pass it by the end of next week, if not sooner. I've never heard of a 7 months recovery from a concussion. If it was that serious, being the family man, and man of god, that he is, I would imagine (again, my opinion) that he would have already made the life choice to walk away from football.

I never understood where that confidence came from when those events happened, and I question this confidence now.

23 and 24 year old players now retire from concussions on what seems like a monthly basis. This isn't a broken thumb.

I'd speculate that the odds of him returning are around 65%. But nowhere close to the 100% that everyone seems to take for granted.

If he retires, I would have to imagine we would be off the hook for next season then, as he 'willingly' walked away from the game. When player's retire, don't they forfeit any guaranteed money for remaining years of a deal?


Also, being 'All in for week one' is completely different as that was a propaganda case to drive interest. This is the difference between being allowed to play football, and not. This is not up to Griffin. If he passes protocol 100% now, he's cleared. Cut and dry. The first rescinding of clearance was completely botched based on some knucklehead failing to properly look at things.

Once he's signed off on by the Drs, then he's good to go. The need to pass a physical in March then goes out the window. He could be released at that point and we are off the hook for next season. If something happens between now and March 1 while he's not a member of the Redskins, we are not on the hook for his money.

The fact that a couple of younger players have retired after a concussion hardly makes that the norm. In fact we know that almost no one retires as a result of a concussion or two. It would be a huge surprise if Griffin did, and it's certainly not something it's reasonable to predict as anything more than an extreme long shot...

If he's suffering from lingering migraines (something no doctor on Earth could disprove) then he isn't cleared.

Conceivably, he could sit out the year if in fact he does have migraines, and hope that they'll dissipate in time.

And if he still suffers from them next March he collects $16 million and walks.

Is that possible? Of course it is. Which is why it just surprises me that everyone seems so confident. This is far from 100%.

Why would he retire? I don't think the concussion will last more than a few weeks, but it could still be present in the short term.

He has an option year locked up. Gruden has said he's on the team.

RG3 is likely to see the field as a Redskin this year. He's still the best qb on the roster.

And I've stopped listening to what Gruden has been saying, because it appears he's finally learned to speak with a level of coach speak...

Is it impossible to think he's saying these things to try to salvage some sort of value for Griffin, IF (and yes that's a big if) there is a market for him? If we have ANY hope to move Griff, he's got to show confidence, at a minimum, on the surface. He also has to make it appear that we need to get something in order to get him. I'm not sure by any means of what exactly is going on, but there are multiple scenarios that make sense.... and I don't think it's completely out of the realm to think that

But he's already passed the verbal evaluation. Clearance on the part of HIS input has been established. The computer data is what apparently was holding back. If he all of a sudden comes out with 'lingering migraines' down the road, yet neurologically he's cleared, its going to raise a lot of red flags....

I saw it on the local news posts on Facebook this morning. They aren't making any official statement but verbally was told he is cleared.
