Yeah. I think I've been pretty clear on my POV (stop rolling your eyes Om). I'd not have shed a tear if he had been fired last year as I think he deserved it. Not JUST for the record, but because of how he handled the mess - instead of do no harm, he did lots of harm, imo.

If he can learn from his mistakes and improve, that's awesome. I sincerely hope he does. Mainly because I don't want another lost season. I just have my doubts that he can, mainly because I haven't seen any indication from him that he can.

The one thing that stood out to me... petulance. The inability to admit his own faults. It's fine to have ego when you've actually accomplished something at this level. His legacy to this point is being the last HC hired by President Tailgate. I think McLovin gets him out after this year, but that's just me.

I get this sense from Gruden that doesn't realize McLovin his here to check his performance, also. It's as if Gruden just thought "Ok... we have a legit GM, so now I can do my own thing" without realizing he was a gigantic part of the problem. There was zero improvement in any one area during the season, least of all being discipline.

Idk, barring a 2-14 bedshitting season I figure Gruden will get next season as well. For the simple fact that McLuvs will want coaching continuity (I'm assuming).

I called 8-8 earlier and still sticking with it. Anything worse would HAVE to be reevaluated of course.

How many new starters on offense for Sept? Scherff and who? Unless you are Anthony Munoz or Orlando Pace, you are not going to make an impact at RT in your rookie year. I also can't remember the last time we added assistant coaches who improved the won loss record. But I agree, any change is a positive thing and really, its all on Jay I believe to make it go and work. If we get 10 wins I'm giving him the props.

We do have an opening at RG with Chester gone, so that's the entire right-hand side of the line, a new O-Line Coach and a QB Coach... which we didn't have last year at all. The position didn't even exist. That is huge change. Include packages with our new RB and WR (who won't start, but still... ) and that's over a third of the Offense at any given time.

If you think you can't make an impact at RT your rookie year, you have forgotten exactly how bad the RT position has been here lately.

Yeah, put me in the camp of not being impressed with Gruden as HC last year. Of course our record sucked, but I am more concerned about his handling of the players, his handling of the Washington press and his overall leadership. Simply put, I was underwhelmed.

I can't say I'm TOO hopeful about a major turn around in his managerial/ decision-making skills this upcoming season, but I'm willing to close my eyes, cross my fingers and dip into my reservoir of eternal optimism we all have to have as Redskins fans and keep an open mind this season. Here's to hoping the changes in our offensive coaching staff and beastly addition to the line will help...

Hiring a qb coach and bringing in a recognized OL coach in the offseason are moves in the right direction.

Whether Gruden got 'advice' from McCloughan in that regard is anyone's guess.

If you think you can't make an impact at RT your rookie year, you have forgotten exactly how bad the RT position has been here lately.

He will help us move the chains, no doubt. But this is the NFL, Scherff won't be facing big 10 DT's, DE's. He will be facing seasoned veteran DE's skilled pass rushers possessing speed he's never seen.

Scherff is a dominant OL. There will always be a learning curve entering the NFL. But I think we'll quickly see himself assert himself over inferior players. Yeah, NFL players, but inferior none the less.

Gruden didn't climb the football mountain to become an NFL Head Coach by being stupid. So, if nothing else, he will almost certainly be familiar with the name Mike Nolan, and grok how that name fits into the Scotty M paradigm.
