Rex Ryan is a HC again. Kyle is coaching after disaster in Cleveland. Even Jim Zorn had a job the very next season.

That's not how the league works.

Well... Then I'd at least put it 70/30 that he's not here next year. Zero accountability for himself. He's the 'Skins' version of Adam Oates, despite all his "genius."

At least Oates really was a genius-level player, though. Gruden just has the petulance.

The team has finished last in its division 6 of the last 7 years.

It doesn't get worse than that. That's Buffalo, Cleveland, Jacksonville territory.

Now they have a coach who has only had a losing season 4 times out of 32 campaigns. They should be kissing his arse for agreeing to even associate himself with a perennial loser. He wins.

They should be begging him and thanking him, just like Gibbs 2, for putting up with two completely useless boobs like Dan and Bruce--two guys who have terrible records in anything even remotely related to football.

I look at Jay and McLovin as our last chance for credibility. If McLovin goes back to hitting the bottle, we are done. If Jay leaves for greener pastures, good luck replacing him. I just hope that McLovin has a good assistant from San Fran that he has his eye on in case that ever happens. And that he would be able to convince him that "next time, it's really different."

Ironic thought - McCloughan brings Griffin back in 2016 but jettisons Gruden as the HC.

Gruden's failure to hire a QB coach for Griffin last season and spread himself way too thin to manage a 53 man roster was perhaps a sign he is not HC material.

He still thinks like an OC.

Weren't we talking about injuries? I believe and have said repeatedly, that once Robert was injured he would never be the same guy. so really I look at his last two years as rehab that kept his performance sub-par, not so much his inability to execute the plays. I don't go there like most others with the bad mechanics and bad OL play. What made him special was lost in injury imho. So no hate from me. He is unfortunately injury prone. There's not a Redskin fan watching that won't cross their fingers starting game one. That's not hate. I loves me some Robert Griffin, but I expect him to get hurt and miss some games.

The way I see it is that McClou and Jay are somewhat connected. They are essentially starting out together in the journey, and if you buy in to the long term plan of McClou, then I think you have to buy in to keeping Gruden for 5 years. Anything less, and McClou hurts himself. He is investing heavily into the Gruden plan and stockpiling the players for the Gruden scheme. He doesn't come from the football world that says I'll get the best players, you figure out how to use them. There's a bigger plan here, and I think that includes commiting to the scheme and success of the Gruden plan. As a side note, that probably means none of our current QB's will last past next year, it doesn't seem to me that they fit the Gruden prototype.

'32 campaigns'? Are you including his days as Pee Wee league coach? He's a 2nd year NFL head coach. He was an above average OC with the Bengals (arguably, but I believe he was). Other than that, none of his vaunted 'success' means dick Mike. It wasn't the NFL, its never going to be the NFL, and it's better than NOT having been successful in meaningless non-NFL football, but just barely. He's getting paid a lot of money to coach a perennial loser. That's more thanks than he's shown he deserves to date.

Never, ever put Jay Gruden and Joe Gibbs in a sentence together, I don't care if you're comparing how they like their steaks Nothing, not them, their coaching prowess, their talents, or their situations, is even remotely relatable or comparable. I'm neither a Snyder nor an Allen fan - but Snyder is good at writing checks and pissing off the press, and Allen can work a home tailgate crowd like nobody's business. Let's be fair

While you're never mentioning Gruden and Gibbs in the same sentence, ditto for Gruden and McLovin. Gruden has had no success to date as 'the guy' for a team. NONE. McLovin - well, you get the point. Jay Gruden could be replaced in about 5 minutes. I think you need to check your man crush. Other than create unnecessary drama and showing absolutely zero prowess in managing the media and his players, he hasn't shown a thing to date. I hope he does, and maybe he will. But to date he's somehow, in an environment of incredibly low expectations, managed to underperform. Finding an underperforming head coach with zero experience - it ain't hard. He's eminently replaceable until he proves he isn't. And McLovin, as long as he stays in place here, won't find it hard to attract good candidates - because he has the credibility and resume that demonstrates he knows what he's doing and can build a winner. I'm not going to address 'the bottle' comment - that was always a risk. But frankly, I'll take McLovin slurring his words and missing work over any other 'football' geniuses we've had in the past 20 years.

I suppose its fair to say Gruden has thus far fallen flat on his face. I don't think its fair to say it was because he failed to get a playoff out of Griffin. I still can't get away from the fact Shanahan benched Griffin. I have to believe Robert was falling off before Jay got here. Maybe its asking too much for jay to revive Robert's career and achieve greatness. I don't know. I have to play it as it lays, and give Gruden a pass. Seems like everyone in the front office has, McClou included. With little change on offense, I don't see the results much different than last year, but no doubt McClou will be asking Gruden what's wrong. A good strong running game will keep everybody's job safe including our three QB's.

Gruden didn't have a QB Coach last year, which McLovin I'm sure realized and saw was a hugantic no-no. Just seemed to me like Gruden had it in for Griffin before he even got here.

I'm agnostic on Gruden at this point.

I'm going to continue to be a lonely voice on this, but as far as I'm concerned, Jay Gruden, NFL Head Coach, starts getting fairly and reasonably assessed starting this fall. Not on the 3-13 mess he inherited last season, or on impressions we gleaned from how he handled specific aspects of the job as a rookie. To me, rookie seasons, no matter how good or bad the franchise a rookie head coach takes over, are the very definition of OJT.

Rookies are going to make mistakes. The key is what they DO about it. Gruden's now had a full year to assess his team and himself--a year to assess his roster, staff, schemes, public methodology, everything. Now is when he has to show that he's taken that experience and perspective and can translate it into a forward momentum and an improved product on the field.

He could turn out to be a disaster. Or he could end up in Canton. As of today, we have no idea. But we'll have a much better sense of which end of that spectrum he's headed to by the time 2015 winds down.

I can live with that. But he has a pattern that he started himself last year. If he falls back in to his old ways it's going to be clear who he is as a coach. But I'm always a "clean slate" kind of fan when it comes to a new season.

That's fine. In general I think it bad form to fire a coach after one season, barring very extreme circumstances.

And while I don't think Gruden was that extremely awful, I do think he did a crap job last year. Even with rookies you should see something. Flashes. Potential. Whatever you want to call it. Not sure I saw any of that with Gruden. Admittedly I wasn't paying that much attention, but when I was I saw Norv Turner 2.0 on the field, and a bumbling fool off of it.

Let's just hope there was a LOT of T in that OJT.
