Random Commanders Thoughts

It may move a point or two, but it would take something like a massive injury to move it more than that.

Brady's suspension, being out of the game entirely moved their spread 3 1/2 to 4 points.

Just saying, a spread in May for a game in September is about as accurate as a weather forecast. Hell, i see things that say with a spread of 2.5 you have a 45% chance of winning.

Pack the umbrella already if you like, but I'll wait until the week of to really worry about what our chances are. :)

Actually, it's the exact opposite. I'm extremely encouraged by it. I think Miami is a top 10 team. Maybe even better
after a strong FA period and their draft.

If that spread isn't at least 5 points or more we are getting a lot of respect.

Miami is maybe top 3 in their own division

Huh?

The iggles said they were calling their plays out as they came to the line of scrimmage. That's not out playing anyone.

If they were so capable and confident of their abilities they wouldn't do that shit. But They didnt. They cheated.

that Redskins linebacker that just retired last season called out plays the team was running was he cheating?

Patriots have suffered a real talent exodus in the offseason, especially on defense.

This maybe a retooling year for them.

Wilfork, Revis, Browner, Arrington, etc.

That's a lot of guys to lose in one offseason.

Suh steping on Griffin ankle in the pile up is worth 5 points by itself. I'd send a backup tackle in there and bait him into a fight so he gets ejected.

Miami overpaid Tannehill.

You always have some trepidation paying a guy after one solid season.

That's why I like it when the Steelers or Packers let a guy go who blows up one year (Mike Wallace) and then goes into free agency where teams overpay based on limited production.

All this talk about Miami in the skins thread....**** Miami

Why is ESPN now spewing Jason Reid's useless crap at us on John Keim's beat?
Had the same thought. It was a classic WaPo piece. No depth or substance; not a hint of acknowledging what anyone who actually follows this stuff understands: that not only was Williams passed on by the five teams ahead of us, and no one behind us thought highly enough of him to seriously try to trade up to get him. If actual NFL people thought he was Reggie White, Nkkmphurso Suh or JJ Watt, we would have seen it.

Boo on ESPN.

That's a tough one. Have you seen what the actual contract is? Not the original bs number always thrown out by agents. He has a lot going for him.

He's extremely healthy. He's never missed a game.

And as crazy at it seems, he's probably already the second best QB they've had in franchise history.

He broke Dan Marino's record for most pass completions in a single season just last year. That's insane!

For a team that has sucked so hard for so long, I can understand why he might be worth more to them than to others.

On the other hand, giving out that second contract to QBs has definitely had mixed results lately. If the contract is too rich, it can cripple a team.

The jury may still be out on Flacco and the Ravens. Cincy paying Dalton looks to be insane. And although Drew Brees is one of the greats, that contract, combined with the stupid contract they gave Byrd made it nearly impossible to keep the team together.

But Miami has also had some of the worst QBs in football for the last 15 years. That's a long walk in the desert of pain.

And they can be returned for 2 points - which to me is just ****ing strange...

Wish they'd stop trying to tinkering with the game for no good reason.
For one thing, it means many stats and records are only relevant for a certain number of years, because you can't compare player/team stats to periods of time when there was major rule changes that affect those stats.
For example, you can throw out every kicker's total points scored from here on, because it's not comparable to a time when PAT's were much shorter.
And the same goes for TEAM total points scored when it comes to stats and records
Leave the game alone !!!

Uh ... I have a Mr. Robert Allen Griese on the phone? I have no idea what it's about but he'd like a word with you.

PATs are the most boring part of the game. This makes them a bit more interesting.

BTW, only Washington and Oakland voted against the rule change...which only cements my view that DS isn't interested in making friends within the NFL...and, why he and this franchise will never catch a break from the NFL's FO and its referees.

No, I agree with Dan on this one.

For a sport that's supposedly so darn awesome and a league that's doing so darn well, the NFL sure does seem hell bent on ****ing with things every chance it gets.
