We are lucky Scot was in SF and Seattle, two very good organizations.

Francois, Culliver and Johnson were all guys he had already scouted :)
 
Or did Scot make horrible teams good and that's why he's here?
 
This, gentlemen, is what a rebuild feels like. I sense this little spark of unfamiliarity growing in my heart. Encouragement I think they call it. Now if we can find a QB and keep building, we might have the start of something...
 
I'm really liking what we've done so far. The two biggies to me - we finally brought in a true NT and we're finally putting complimentary players together, e.g. Johnson with Culliver/Breeland. It almost sounds like we *GASP* have an actual plan for building a team. Now if our coaches can just get the best out of them scheme and teaching-wise and get a decent OL/QB we'll be in business. *fingers crossed*
 
For those who believe the O-line is a need, there are still 2 O-linemen available out there to keep an eye on as possible signings.

Stefen Wisniewski (C) and Joe Barksdale (T).
 
I believe those two above and Taylor Mays are the most likely, and probably last possible signings we do before the draft.

Taylor Mays in front by a large margin. Then Wisniewski and Barksdale.
 
Actually, the more I think about it, Taylor Mays is an absolute no-brainer.

Free safety, young and good on ST also. He can hold down the position for a few years as we groom someone else.
 
Why are we getting gap fillers? If that's the case we should have gotten wilfork.

Draft a kid, let him learn niw.
 
All three of those guys are 25-27 years old. All pretty young and could be here for 3-5 years.

The two linemen are believed to be upgrades over what's currently on the roster.

Taylor Mays would be the only one who might be a gap-filler. 2 years out of him would be acceptable as we try to find a longer-term solution.
 
I meant taylor mays. He's barely decent and would just be a filler.
 
There aren't any pro-bowlers out there, and it's believed to be the worst draft for safeties in a decade. Literally.

He's 27, blocked a punt last year and did well on ST. He's nothing special as a safety, but likely better than anyone we have on the roster.

That is basically saying you'll settle for the ugly girl because you don't want to be alone for a while longer.

Our defense was so horrible last year that adding mays isn't going to help but instead take the focus off of there when it needs to remain on it.

Leave the ugly girl at the bar, go home solo, and just wait for match.com emails :)

That's another option.....be patient and wait.

Just understand that when the match.com email opens up you're likely going to be looking at a picture of D Hall or Phillip Thomas.

Or someone like Johnson who comes in young and hungry. But with Mays we already know he's taking pics from the up angle, doing duck faces, and trying too hard to sell what he isnt.

Johnson is an immediate starter at SS.

The problem with FS is that you need a vet there. Not only does he have his own play to worry about, but he has to yell out calls to the defense and make sure the other corners are in their correct positions.

Rookies don't know that. And rookie FS rarely start--especially ones not taken in the first ten picks.

The rookie FS that we draft next year won't likely start his first season. So we are probably looking at a 2 year gap to fill.
 
Johnson also has a huge upswing to him having played behind and getting endorsed by 2 damn good safeties. I'd take 10 of him over an older vet living off of name like clark or reed out of bmore.

I hear you about needing experience but mays just lost all love from me coming out and not looking like he did at usc.
