Random Commanders Thoughts

Considering our D-line and lack of production it's a meh move. Between Jarvis, Bowen and Coefield's salary hits and pending release it's a stopgap move. Could be worse

Hey, its someone different. Different is likely better than stagnant for us at this point for a lot of positioned

Seems like a solid move to me. Not all puzzle pieces have to be corners or the pretty girl's chest.

Yep. And we have to realize that whether we have Nostradamus selecting players or not, some will work out, some will fizzle. All we can do is watch, trust (or not), and wait and see.

Yep, seems like a solid, younger replacement for possible older vet cuts like Bowen and Golston. Need depth, rotational guys.

It's someone who will duplicate the production of some of the older guys on the DL, but do it for less money and be younger. Smart move, if McLovin is thinking of helping the cap while also getting a little younger.

Jenkins indicated that finally in Year 4 of his career he is planning on working on his pass rush skills in the offseason.

May be too late for him here.

He should have been doing that last offseason as he went INTO his contract year.

One thing's for sure, he has a lousy agent.

Bowen and cofield cut tackle Compton signed 2 year extension I believe

Josh McCown, Cleveland Browns reach 3-year deal - NFL.com

Looks like we can take Cleveland out of the mix for wanting to trade up to get a QB if either one falls... This also appears that they aren't in the market to trade for one of our current guys, unless Manziel completely falls off before the seasons starts.

Not necessarily he struggles against better centers so he won't be a slam dunk if we had a solid vet in front of him where he only had to play limited snaps I might tend to agree. He was pre combine picked in the 15-20 slot if we stay at 5 we shouldn't even think about him unless they believe he can develop into a stronger dominant type

Well, from what I have read a lot of folks are doubting whether Fowler, Ray or Gregory are ready to step in and play in the NFL from Day 1. Landon Collins is definitely at a need position, but a strong safety is not a #5 overall pick. There are no cornerbacks or tackles that look worthy of a pick at #5 either.

So, that leaves us with a decision if we can't trade down. We may have to take a younger player with the size and raw talent to be successful with good coaching like Shelton at an anchor position of real need on the defense.

Unless you have a NT like Casey Hampton (ex-Steelers) or Haloti Ngata (Ravens) your 3-4 alignment is going to fail to meet expectations.

If we have to work to develop a guy that could be a great asset, I would rather do it with a NT than another OLB like Orakpo.

Ngata is expected to be cut from what I've heard.

"At #5, the Washington Redskins select, Vic Beasley, Clemson".

Soon to be known as, The Beast.

Ngata is expected to be cut from what I've heard.
I'm guessing he meant we need someone like Ngata or Hampton like they WERE when they were young when you could build a defense around them. At this point he is approaching over the hill status and not worth singing to a squad with numerous holes.

these were cap cuts.
what they need the money for? :)

I know its hard to comprehend as a redskins fan but this is what responsible teams do, they cut guys who they are paying more than they are worth. I just hope they don't simply replace them with some overpaid castoffs again.... silly me.

Signing Suh of course!

Snyder waited until McCloughan and his wife were on a plane to Barbados and out of touch to make his move 😨
