Correct on all accounts Boone. Pats were in control most of the way, time of possession (7+ min more), third down conversions (way better) first downs (easily moved the ball) AND they left points on the field. No, this was a Pats victory not really in doubt. Brady's stats in comebacks can't be rivaled.

Fan's correct about opinions, only his is somewhat narrow. Note his statement regarding the front office for the AFC east and that being the reason Pats will continue to win. no mention of the domination of the pats during the last 15 years due to coaching and talent. Fan's not seeing the forest because of the trees.

Bottom line is, Wilson is great but inexperienced, and he wasn't more cool and calm than Brady, that's ridiculous. Wilson was a tad late on that throw and yes it was his fault. forget the playcalling. That's not what lost it. Wilson should have released sooner and when he did release he led him too much. Yes its a matter of inches, but Butler knew the play was coming and he executed. Wilson knew the play was coming and he failed to execute.
 
That's why they have scores on games. Whoever has the better score within the confines of the game was better at playing the game that time. If one team manages to run up 700 yards up and down the field but scores less than the team that only managed 200 yards, the 200 yard team was the better team. Efficiency matters.

Also, why does it matter if a team throws dink and dunk passes down the field? Why don't they get stopped then? Receivers can still be touched within 5 yards, so if they are all short routes, they can be messed with prior to the ball being thrown. We have heard all year how great Seattle's passing defense is; if they are the better team, why couldn't they stop simple dink and dunk plays? Why couldn't they stop a team that had became one dimensional? Wouldn't the better team be able to do so?

In the end, New England had more first downs, a better 3rd down efficiency, and ultimately more points. The difference in total yardage was a mere 19 yards in favor of Seattle. You can indeed make the stats say anything, but the ones for this game do not support any notion that Seattle was the better team.

This was a hard fought game by both sides, and was close as hell. There were a multitude of mistakes by both teams that if they did not exist, would have given the advantage to the other. The one that sticks in the mind is the final offensive play of the Seahawks, but it is not the only play that lost the game. In the end, what lost them the game was the inability to score more points than the opposition. The reason games are played is because being better on paper is worthless. The team that scores more is better. Period. You are judged by wins and losses, not potential.

I wouldn't have called pass there myself, what with the momentum, the pixiedust that got Seattle to the SB in the first place, and Marshawn standing there slobbering waiting to be the hero, but I don't really have a problem with the call to go with the slant. The problem was the execution of the play. Wilson missed the spot, and I know he knows it.

I think you're missing the jump on the ball by the rookie, the understanding by the coaching staff of the Pats on what was to come and the inflated confidence of Carrol's ego. The execution was poor, but he may not even have gotten into the end zone had the ball been completed.

If you call a pass play there, call one that the NFL had not seen from you throughout the year and utilize the mobility of your QB and get him out on a roll with the option to run or throw.
 
I would not be averse to trading DeSean Jackson to the Seahawks for picks.

Seattle is primed for another run and their biggest need is a playmaker on the outside.

Jermaine Kearse and Doug Baldwin don't scare anyone.

the very strategy the Pats adopted was all I needed to know that Seattle had the better talent. again....Seattle had the game won...we all know it. it was a bad playcall that cost em.

micks..at least get it right! trace the thread and you will see I posted the Pats played smarter. the argument is over who was the better team. and no....different playcall...like leading with your strength...and your QB isn't in the situation of not adjusting on the pass.

as I have posted...I don't really care where the thundering herd heads. Seattle in my book has better talent and is a better team.

Sometimes I think you really don't know football. this is so bogus. Like yogi berra says, it ain't over till its over. The playcall DID NOT determine the outcome, of course you really aren't going to tell me that you somehow know something the rest of us don't that Lynch would have scored when the stats (if you want stats) say he failed on 1 yard rushes all year. Not only that, they ran him on first down and he didn't get in. So don't tell me what you know, cause you just don't know. An argument based on a hypothetical is not an argument. Its hard headedness.

The guy made a great, phenomenal play to intercept. Just accept that dude, he won the game for the other team no matter how many times you look into the mirror and say Seattle is the better team. That's what losers say (in sports). Besides, they had no answer for Edelman. Edelman, repeat after me, slow short guy who embarrassed the vaunted legion of boom, bwahhahahah. Come on man
 
One thing to remember about goal line football, the offense doesn't always win. No one is remembering the first down play. All anyone wants to holler about is why didn't they give it to Lynch. Hello they gave it to Lynch at the five. I watched that play two dozens times just to see who in the heck made the tackle on Lynch and save a touchdown there. I had to replay it many times to figure it out, so much chaos going on. There were three Patriots who crashed to the other side of the line, a DB who took out the first blocker, the DE who took out the lineman, and #54 LB who made spectacular tackle on Marshawn at the feet, the only things you could do. You can't tackle Lynch high, he will take you into the end zone, but the linebacker made a great great play just barely getting to his feet. No one remembers the great play that preceded the phenomenal play. That's the way football go. Pats made the plays to win and it was those two guys who rose to the occasion.
 
He got it at the 6 and got 3 yards...pretty good carry for a team ready for it. And if it wasn't for a trip he could've gotten in.

I didn't miss anything. I saw Butler make the break. I also saw Wilson throw the ball a little too high and a little too out in front.

He gets that ball on the back hip like he wanted too, and it's either a TD or falls incomplete and Lynch is getting the rock on 3rd and 4th if necessary.

Surprised there's more reaction to the SB in here than to that of Tim Browns comments. I was disappointed to hear these comments while my facebook and Twitter were loaded with pictures of Griffin starhumping Michael Jordan and Bryce Harper. Save the predictable excuse lines for the precious and just comment on what Tim Brown said... Does it fill in some void that was out there about the lack of cohesion in this locker room? Does it help explain rumors about the locker room environment? Does it disappoint you?

I'd say yeah a little... To all three

Darrell Green was reportedly a "better than you" shithead, whenever there wasn't a camera or mic on. But he played well, so no big deal.

maybe. maybe not. no doubt someone like me who spent the better part of his adult life working at the strategic, operational and tactical end of things has no concepts, lessons learned or thoughts to bring to the table when it comes to decision-making and thinking. ya got me there junior!

I imagine you caught the butler interview where he stated he had been beaten on exactly a play like that earlier in the season and figured Seattle was going to gift him with the same play.

no matter to me. I acknowledge your profound concerns over my take on events. there is professional counseling for this sort of obsession. just sayin!!

Tim Brown's comments were discussed for a few days already when he first made them on 106.7 last week. The gist of it was that Griffin wasn't a dick or anything, just that he didn't personally "fit in" and thinks he still can be a great QB in the league. He needs to get over his social awkwardness around people who aren't his typical crowd.

A smiling picture doesn't mean anything.

Ah well I guess I need to back a few more days. I catch up on podcasts during my 4 hr commute once a week. Good summary of the overall feeling of the crowd here. The kid is really a friggin enigma isn't he? Nothing is simple with the GD franchise. At least it's redskins related. Sick of SB talk in the random redskins thread anyway ;)
