ESPN: Keim: Analyzing Redskins' Draft Status

If the FO is sold on Moses, tackle won't be the our 1st rounder.

Unless it's a DT/NT.

The mere possibility seems insane to me. How can they be sold on a guy who couldn't crack the lineup up of the worst O line in the league made up of players not even good enough to be backups on other teams? That stat says a ton to me...we're starting guys across the line who have been cut, not demoted to backup, but flat out cut from other teams. Haslett needs to go but I'm in line with the people who think Campbell might be the worst on an embarrassingly horrible staff. All I want for Christmas is a new scouting staff and DC. If Santa is feeling really generous then a new O line coach along with a new Secondary coach would be the icing on the cake.

Landon Collins is not a top 10 talent at safety. I'd argue he's not a first round talent.

He's very good in the box but struggles in coverage and in space. This is the guy I'd like - plug him in at RT for the moment you draft him.WalterFootball.com: 2015 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Brandon Scherff

Right there with ya on this tackle, bio reads pretty damn good. Since there isn't a top 10 secondary a stud RT would please everyone I'd think.

Williams on one side and 'The Sheriff' on the other! Put Long in where Chester was and looking pretty good.

The lisfranc injury that sent Moses to IR will probably not be fully healed in time for the offseason programme and maybe not even the start of the season. In any case it's going to set back his development - can't count on him to compete for a starting spot for 2015. He's a prospect anyway not someone who you are penciling in as an upgrade. If there is a highly rated OT there when we pick you pull the trigger IMO.

I agree Martin. But we're not pulling the trigger. The FO is. Their opinion/grade is all that matters.

I got a feeling, especially if we hire a new DC, that we're gonna go heavy, and early, on the defensive side of the ball.

And I don't have a real problem with that.

I'm with you. I'd prefer that we go O-line with the 1st but its gotta be a sure fire pick. It looks like there are a few guys out there that are starter quality, so I wouldnt be against trading down and picking up an additional couple higher round picks.

I would not be against drafting defense either especially if Leonard Williams drops (but he won't). He'd be a really really good 3/4 DE. Ideal size at 6-5 300 and would be disruptive against both pass and run. Apart from him though there is not a D'Line prospect worth the first rounder we will have. A couple of edge rushers will be there who would line up at OLB for us and you can never have enough of them.

We certainly have a bunch of needs on defense though.

I heard Bill Pollian say on the radio the other day that the hardest positions to find are QB and a pass rushing DE. If you are able to get one of those guys, you take them. I'm not a draft guru, but if we have a DL that is available, DE or otherwise, I hope we take him. He also said OL and DL is key for a club, but that you could pick up OL if needed later in the draft or elsewhere.

How many times has Bill Polian had to draft a Quarterback LOL!!! Once? Twice? I can't remember whether he drafted Jim Kelly. He was pretty will finished once he got Manning. He did draft Bruce Sniff (sic) and Dwight Freeney, though. Arguably, I'd say he did a better job in Buffalo and maybe Carolina (considering how short he was there) than Indy.

You can pick up good OLine lower in the draft and even get lucky with an undrafted guy. The thing is we've tried that route and the returns have not been good. The odds are against you. Look at Dallas or the 49ers - multiple high draft picks invested in their OLine. We've got Trent Williams and then a bunch of guys ...

Unless Leonard Wiiliams is there when we draft I would run to podium with Schreffs name on our card if he's there. If Williams and Schreff are both there I'd have a conversation about who to pick - and THEN take Schreff!

Speaking of the niners, if shithead ends up taking the Michigan job what's the odds of a fire sale in San Fran? I can certainly see Iupati fitting in well next to Williams.

Edit: Oh shit he's a FA anyways! Next seasons line up is...

Williams....Iupati....Licht....Long....Sherriff

Boom goes the dynamite!!!

Iupati is going to be expensive... I think I read somewhere he could be highest paid at his position ever. It may be worth it but we've got a lot of holes to fill at some expensive positions

True, no breaking the bank on a couple guys anymore. Suppose a portion will depend on how much we'd have to eat in dead $ by cutting Lavou and Chester too.

Yeah, I'm still wondering how were going to free up all this money. We need to be aggressive in FA but we also need to be smart. IF they're committed, this is year 2 of a multi year project. Smart and steady if you ask me. Get a few good pieces in FA this year, draft well, improve next year.. get even better in 16'

Updated draft order:

NFL DRAFT ORDER W L T SOS
1 Tennessee Titans 2 13 0.487
2 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2 13 0.491
3 Jacksonville Jaguars 3 12 0.513
4 New York Jets 3 12 0.551
5 Oakland Raiders 3 12 0.560
6 Washington Redskins 4 11 0.476
7 Chicago Bears 5 10 0.531

It appears that we can draft no lower than 6th.

The number of the beast!!!

We can clear a lot of money by releasing Chester, Cofield and Bowen and not resigning Meriweather and Moss/Clark.

We also get a rebate on Orakpo's salary slot as I don't think there is any way we bring him back in 2015.

We need to pay Ryan Kerrigan who is on line to finish with 14-15 sacks this season and being a guy that stays on the field on a consistent basis for the club.

In terms of the draft, yes we have taken guys like LeRibeus, Moses and Long with our third round picks and we SHOULD be getting some return from them by now given the state of the OL overall, but it might be the case that we simply blew the picks.

LeRibeus has now been around for 3 years and still can't get on the field.

Given how poorly Cooley has rated Shawn Lauvao overall in 2014 that is scary.

Wether they are sold on Moses or not the priority should be on upgrading the line. I believe the linebackers could be one of the better units in the NFL over the next few years and will get better if we can improve on that side of line also

I think Riley is likely gone. I think having Robinson lined up next to Compton in the middle could make a solid pair...provided we stick to the 3-4.
