NFL Analyzing Redskins' draft status - ESPN

I just spent fifteen minutes writing this myself, but Keim probably does a better job.

Where we stand, and what teams to root for if you'd like to see us move up from sixth.

I'll update it as the season progresses.

Win all three.

**** draft position.

That's great and all but had we lost a few more in 2011 we might have Luck, 2 extra firsts and an extra second.

Sorry. I'd prefer two extra first round picks in such a situation.

Wait..we were #1 to get Luck? How could we get someone when he wasn't even on the board? That's like the chargers saying they could have gotten manning.

As long as Scott Campbell is setting the draft board, it doesn't matter.

He'd screw up an anvil with a feather.

If nothing else, it would be nice to see Carolina, NO and Chicago win.

And if chickens had lips they might be able to whistle.

Better yet, if we had a head coach who could find his own ass in the bathtub, we might not be in the dismal position we are. Where losing is now preferred, by some misguided fans.

Here are some games that could enhance the chances of moving up. Assuming that the Redskins lose out, chances of moving up to at least third are good. Going higher is a reach, but possible.

(A)NY Jets vs Tenn
(A)Tenn vs Jacksonville
(H)Oakland vs Buffalo
(A)Oakland vs Denver (Denver may rest starters in last game of season)
(A)Tampa vs Carolina
(H)Tampa vs New Orleans

We've currently moved up to the 5th spot in the draft.

1. Tennessee (2-13, .483).

2. Tampa Bay (2-12, .467).

3. Oakland (2-12, .571).

4. Jacksonville (3-12, .507).

5. Washington (3-11, .470).

6. N.Y. Jets (3-11, .533).

7. Atlanta (5-9, .495). ***

8. N.Y. Giants (5-9, .505).

9. Chicago (5-9, .513).

10. Carolina (5-8-1, .503). ***

I'm normally one would like to see us get as high a draft pick as possible when games become meaningless; however, playing the Cowboys in the final game of the season and potentially being able to be a spoiler for their season is just too hard to pass up.

I'll never root for us to lose to those bastards.

No doubt. Then pull for teams in the 6-9 spots to win this weekend.

worst case...we're drafting no lower than 6 IMO.

assuming we're not drafting a QB...we don't need to be in the top 3 or 4 unless there is a super-star dl in the queue...again...IMO. we can draft a stud OL or cb/safety at 6.

There is a stud DE from USC that is expected to go third or fourth. Get ready to hear the name Leonard Williams over and over until the draft arrives.

Most draft guys now agree that Mariota and Jameis will go 1 and 2. Unless something crazy happens with the worst teams.

Then everyone seems to be fighting for this Leonard Williams.

The tackles are just below him.

Most currently predict this guy for the Skins, including SI, where this synopsis was taken from:

Brandon Scherff, OT

RS Senior, Iowa

Detractors arguing against taking Scherff this high might say that he's better off at right tackle than left, or that his long-term home will be at guard. And ... so? Defenses feature more dynamic edge-rushers than ever, meaning more need for a standout RT. There also are several teams leaning on A-gap blitzes, putting pressure on guards. A potential All-Pro lineman, as Scherff is, would upgrade Washington no matter where he lines up.

Peat is talking about staying in school. If so, opens the door for Ronnie Stanley, OT ND who was a starter on the right before moving to the left - he has experience on the right side.

I say it every year. Root for wins. Draft position doesn't matter if the front office knows (or doesn't know) what it's doing. I think the past few years have proven that to be the case.

This stuff will take care of itself in the offseason.

Lol, damn I hope you're wrong tho.

Could our team screw up on a top 6 pick...at least in the 1st round?
