I don't know about anyone else but it seems as if with time it will be easier to work out the kinks in Cousin's game than either Griffin or McCoy.

Cousins can make the throws. He has exhibited decent pocket presence and credible fundamentals.

His penchant for interceptions seems more easily tamed with a bit of experience.

It's funny when the media people say that Cousins had his chance to start and blew it.

The guy has started HALF a season worth of games total in his career.

McCoy already has 35 starts and Griffin has 20.

So, who are we really being impatient with at qb?

Sounds good..but you have to activate him first. Hence yet another problem with the coach.

I'm honestly curious on this. I can think of one QB who has had problems with interceptions and managed to tame them, and even then it was only temporary. That QB is Eli Manning. Do you have any examples of others to show a reason to think that interceptions are more easily tamed?

Griffin was rookie of the year and took the Skins to the playoffs in 2012.

Making the comparison to Tebow is ridiculous.

The final chapter hasn't been written on RG3, but tons of similarities to Tebow up to this point:

Both won the Heisman
Both made it to the NFL playoffs with weak records
Both ran unconventional offenses that depended on their legs
Both had/have a ton of fans
Both had/have a ton of experts saying they weren't NFL QBs

Let's hope that's where the similarities end.

I think is the obvious truth as well. If you cannot move forward with Griffin, seems like Cousins has a lot of the tools, just needs consistent coaching up and lots of patience. The problem with Colt is he has great instincts but he can't make all the throws.

3300 yards and less than 10 interceptions shows his legs weren't doing it when he only had 800 rushing yards.

Stop trying to reach so hard and just make up things because you don't like Griffin. He's definitely better than Tebow and saying different is just baffling

Until we build a line that can protect them and until we cam field a defense that can reliably stop or slow down opposing offenses it doesn't matter what QB you put in there, none will perform well. So all the arguments about who starts this year seem pointless at this stage to me. I don't see any of them getting positive experience and furthering their development when the offense can't do better than a 2.3 second drop protection.

I've been wondering where Cousins might fit in this whole QB equation so I did some digging. The knock against Cousins seems to be a penchant for throwing INTs. He has thrown 9 INTs but 7 of those were in two games-the Giants and Cardinals. Here's some game log info.

Jacksonville 22 for 33 250 yds 2 TDs 0 INTs 2 sacks

Eagles 30 for 48 427 yds 3 TDs 1 INT 0 sacks

Giants 19 for 33 250 yds 1 TD 4 INTs 2 sacks

Seahawks 21 for 36 283 yds 2 TDs 0 INTs 1 sack

Cardinals 24 for 38 354 yds 2 TDs 3 INTs 2 sacks

Titans 10 for 16 139 yds 0 TDs 1 INT 1 sack



One more interesting situational stat I found for Cousins-Red Zone passing this season

13 for 22 6 TDs 0 INTs 1 sack


Given the current situation, I wouldn't be averse to giving him a shot if for no other reason than "What the hell do we have to lose?"

I don't want Griffin to go anywhere until we can provide a decent O-Line. It serves no purpose to see him struggle. 3 Division games ahead. 2 of them are against Philly and Dallas. If McCoy gets hurt or really stinks up the joint Griffin will get another chance. I think Gruden is trying to find the best of the bunch. He needs some wins and knows Andrew Luck isn't in next years draft.

NFL scouts frequently make decent decisions on whether to draft a player, though they have seen ZERO NFL games of the player.
Talent, or lack thereof, is evident to the professional eye, even if it's not in "authentic game situations".
